Democratic National Convention 2020: How to live stream, time, speakers and all you need to know about the presidential nomination meeting

Democratic National Convention 2020 will surely be a different one. With the pandemic is still raging in the USA and other parts of the world, the convention will be almost entirely virtual as the delegates will not be on location in Milwaukee.  Joseph Biden Jr and Kamala Harris will deliver their speeches from nearly 700 miles away in Wilmington, Delaware. But the convention will have the speeches from the Democratic leaders past and present and of course the votes that will see Biden from presumptive to the official nominee. Biden will officially accept the Democratic nomination for president on August 20, with a speech set to start at 10 pm ET. His vice presidential pick, Kamala Harris, will speak on August 19th at 10 pm, with former president Barack Obama delivering a digital address after. For the live updates, you can follow 

Here are all the details you need to know about the Democratic National Convention 2020.

When to watch?

The convention will air from 9 pm ET to 11 pm ET, from August 17 to August 20, 2020.

Where to watch?

C-SPAN, CNN, MSNBC, and PBS will cover the full two hours each night from 9 pm ET to 11 pm ET, whereas, ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox News will air the convention from 10 pm ET to 11 pm ET each night. 

Where to live stream?

You can live stream it on Apple TV, Roku, Amazon Fire TV and Amazon Prime Video. The convention will also air on AT&T U-verse (channels 212 and 1212) and AT&T DirectTV (channel 201). It will also air on Comcast Xfinity Flex and Comcast X1. The convention will also live stream on the DNC’s website, as well as on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Twitch.

Who's speaking?

The lineup for the first night, as announced by DMC will include an introduction by actress Eva Longoria, followed by a call of the order by the convention chairman, Representative Bennie Thompson of Mississippi. President of National Latino Evangelical Coalition, Rev. Gabriel Salguero will then give an invocation.

Representative Gwen Moore of Wisconsin

Muriel Bowser, the mayor of Washington, DC

A conversation with Joe Biden on racial justice will be conducted by Mayor Lori E Lightfoot of Chicago, Art Acevedo who is the Houston police chief, Jamira Burley, a social justice activist, Derrick Johnson, the N.A.A.C.P. president and Gwen Carr, mother of Eric Garner. 

Representative James E. Clyburn of South Carolina.

Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo of New York.

Kristin Urquiza, a woman whose father died from the coronavirus.

Sara Gideon, Speaker of Maine’s House of Representatives.

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan.

Christine Whitman, a former Republican governor of New Jersey.

Meg Whitman, the chief executive of Quibi and a major Republican fund-raiser.

The former Republican congresswoman of New York, Susan Molinari.

Former Gov. John Kasich of Ohio: He was a Republican presidential candidate in 2016.

Senator Doug Jones of Alabama.

Senator Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada.

Senator Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota

A number of former 2020 Democratic presidential candidates will hold a discussion on why they support Mr. Biden. It will include, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand of New York, Governor Jay Inslee of Washington, Ms. Klobuchar, Representative Seth Moulton of Massachusetts, former Representative Beto O’Rourke of Texas, Tom Steyer and Andrew Yang.

Representative Cedric Richmond of Louisiana.

Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont.

Michelle Obama, the former first lady.

The Rev. Dr. Jerry Young, the 18th president of the National Baptist Convention.

Over the next few nights, the convention will also feature Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Elizabeth Warren, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer.

Performances

The event will also boast several musical performances. Monday, August 17:  Maggie Rogers and Leon Bridges will perform; August 19:  Billie Eilish and Jennifer Hudson will perform and on August 20, the Chicks will perform. Additional performances are expected from John Legend, Common, Stephen Stills, Billy Porter and Prince Royce.
