'Debris' Episode 3 Spoilers: What happened to George's body at the morgue? Here's the shocking death twist
Spoilers for ‘Debris’ Season 1 Episode 3
The biggest mystery on NBC’s sci-fi thriller is what kind of effect the alien wreckage, aka “Debris”, has on humankind, and will the human race will ever be able to learn fully about the earth-shattering technology? However, the mystery about the disappearance and the death of George Jones, father of agent Finola Jones (Riann Steele), is also one of the major plotlines that are currently keeping the viewers at the edge of their seats.
In the first episode, we found that George Jones (Tyrone Benskin) was the first astrophysicist to know about “Debris” and died while doing the research. However, he is not dead and is now with a gang named ‘Influx’. CIA and Finola’s partner, Bryan (Jonathan Tucker), know the truth about George’s death, but Finola doesn’t.

Episode three takes the viewers closer to the moment he apparently died. In one scene, we see Craig Maddox (Norbert Leo Butz) watching a video on his mobile. The video being played on his phone sees Finola sitting inside the morgue with her father’s body and saying the final “goodbye”, taking his watch as a memento.
A few moments later, a doctor is seen covering George’s face with a hospital bed sheet. But, as soon as the doctor covers George’s face, his hand falls out of the sheet and we see the watch back on his wrist.
How did the watch return to his wrist? Did Finola came back and tied the watch once again?
What really happened at the morgue?
We can officially say that the corpse at the morgue did not belong to George. The CIA took his body and found out that it was not Finola’s father. The person, who sent the video clip to Maddox, says, “At this point, that’s not him (George) anymore.” Maddox is taken by surprise and doesn’t know how and why George faked his death. One of the possibilities is that the hospital staff helped George in faking his death. Even if he did take that extreme step, it is still unclear why would he not tell his daughter about his plan? I believe, he is doing all this to save his daughter from the bad guys. It seems his death has been one of the major reasons for Finola’s survival.
Additionally, it can be something related to “Debris”. We saw in the pilot episode how grief brought back a person. So, did Finola’s grief bring her father back to life? Possible. But, we will get clear answers as the show progresses.
‘Debris’ returns to NBC for a new episode every Monday.
