'Deadpool 3' or 'X-Force'? Ryan Reynolds teases return of potty mouth superhero under MCU

The beautiful thing about time travel is that no one really knows the rules. That is exactly what we're rooting for when we hope for the return of Canessa (Morena Baccarin) come ‘Deadpool 3.’

While neither Marvel nor the social media pages of ‘Deadpool’ has confirmed the third edition of the superhero movie series, Ryan Reynolds has now promised us that is along the way. He posted a photo of Deadpool in a Mickey Mouse hat sitting inside what we assume to be a Disney tour bus.

But how much can we trust him? Enough to know he is reprising the role — not necessarily for ‘Deadpool 3’ but may be for an ‘X-Force’ film — which will also feature Vanessa, back from the dead.

She was killed in the beginning of ‘Deadpool 2’ and the Merc with a Mouth banded together with Colossus (Stefan Kapičić) and Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand) for a mission which led him to a time travelling device which he stole and used to save the love of his life.

Now that we are all caught up, do we think this photo is from the potentially upcoming ‘Deadpool 3’? The caption, which reads, “Feels like the first day of 'Pool',” definitely suggests that. This could mean that it is the first time he is wearing the Deadpool costume for the new movie.

The fact that this picture is Disney-heavy is not lost on us. It is obviously a tongue-in-cheek tip of the hat to the Disney-Fox merger that would allow ‘X-Men’ to be a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Considering the Marvel Cinematic Universe is extremely well-planned, it remains to be seen, however, if an ‘X-Force’ movie will come before ‘Deadpool 3’ or after.

The MCU history leads us to believe that ‘X-Force’ might be in line before Deadpool’s solo venture. Even the movie’s writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick have compared their plan to the 'Iron Man 1, Iron Man 2, The Avengers, Iron Man 3' model. Meaning, the team-up is definitely next on the list.

What remains to be seen, however, is which X-Men will join the X-Force. Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead are definitely a given while Vanessa being alive is a clear indication that she would be in it as well. Cable’s (Josh Brolin) return seems problematic due to two reasons — one being he is the Biggest Bad there is in the MCU, having obliterated half the universe’s population as Thanos. Secondly, Vanessa’s resurrection surely must have effed up the timeline leading Cable to never have collaborated with the X-Force.

The most likely guess for the ‘X-Force,’ movie however, is a Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) cameo, which is inevitable. Jackman may have hung up his claws, but he will not be the guy to pass up the brilliant opportunity to celebrate on his buddy Reynold’s new venture as a members of the MCU.

At this point, all we can do is wait for the clues and teasers that Reynolds, team Deadpool and Marvel drop for us until an official announcement is made.
