David Koch, businessman, philanthropist, political activist, chemical engineers and one of the world's richest men, died on Friday, August 23. And most people with liberal leanings saw this as a reason to celebrate, with several even opining that his brother, Charles Koch, would follow suit. Some of Hollywood's biggest names, including Bette Middler, John Cusack, and Judd Apatow, are among those to voice these opinions on Twitter.

Credited as the man who reshaped the American political landscape and paved way for Donald Trump to become the president, David and his brother made most of their fortune through fossil fuel extraction and manufacturing. A Native American activist Tara Houska tweeted, the Koch brothers are responsible for a network of oil pipelines, refineries and are climate change deniers who contributed quite a bit of their fortune to destroying the environment.

Apatow, agitated with the Koch brothers, tweeted, "THESE MEGALOMANIACS THINK THEY WILL LIVE FOREVER, AND THEY CORRUPT AND POLLUTE OUR WORLD, THEN THEY DO DIE AND LEAVE THEIR MESS FOR US TO DEAL WITH." Middler who wants to see a similar fate befall the surviving Koch brother, wrote, "I tweeted the #CharlesKoch had died, instead of # DavidKochIsDEAD. I'm sorry to give others false hope. Guess it was just wishful thinking. As we watch the Amazon Rainforest burning, all the #GlobalWarming culprits are foremost in one's mind."

Quoting an article about David dying as "fires raged from the Amazon to the Arctic," Cusak slammed the late businessman for his "legacy of horror".

Actress Alyssa Milano, who noticed fellow left-wingers cheering David's death, was quick to remind them that "celebrating a man's death while fighting to abolish the death penalty is a bad look for democrats/humans."

However, her followers pointed out that it is that fact that "he will no longer be able to enable the needless suffering of millions of people because of his greed and immoral wealth" that they are celebrating, and not the death itself. Another elaborated, "David Koch lived a long, selfish life. He and his comparably avaricious, sociopathic cohorts KNEW their morally reprehensible choices would destroy the lives of countless innocent people. They didn’t care. They pursued money and power. He’s gone. I celebrate.  #NoApologies."
