David Gergen calls on Millennials to replace Baby Boomers, 'overlooked' Gen X says 'we hate both'
American political commentator and former presidential adviser David Gergen feels the 'Boomer' generation has been running the country for decades and it's now time for them to be replaced by 'Millenials' and 'Gen Z' aka the younger generations.
"Baby Boomers have been running the country for nearly three decades. Some successes, a number of disappointments. It's time to pass the baton to younger generations — Millennials & Gen Z. Pls join us for conversation tonite on @CNN with @ACCooper about my new book on subject," the 80-year-old tweeted on his account on May 11.

As per Kasasa, Baby boomers were born between 1946 and 1964. They're currently between 57-75 years old. Gen X was born between 1965 and 1980 and is currently between 41-56 years old. Gen Y, also known as Millennials, were born between 1981 and 1996. They are currently between 25 and 40 years old. Gen Z is the newest generation, born between 1997 and 2012. They are currently between 9 and 24 years old.
After Gergen's tweet, Gen X is not happy. One tweet read, "What do you suggest Gen X does with the remainder of their lives? Asking for many friends." Another said, "LOL Gen X can't catch a break, man. This isn't the first time we've been overlooked, but you know. Whatever, man. It's chill." One user posted a meme that read, "Just remember, for every Boomer that hates a Millenial, there's a generation in between that hates you both."

While one user made a sarcastic comment saying, "It’s almost like no one was born between 1965 and 1980 and is still working their butts off and raising children and taking care of their parents," another wrote, "#GenerationX here. While you decide to pass us over & hand over power to people we trained, we’ll be working our asses off to save democracy."

A third asked, "So, as a 44 year old Xenial, am I just never going to be part of a power generation? First half of my life, my parents generation. Second half, my kids?" A fourth replied, "Hey Gergen, I'm 52, I'm GenX, and I would like a turn please." A fifth felt, "Sir, Gen X would like a word. I realize we’re a smaller group and prone to sitting quietly while others’ needs are met, but seriously! Could y’all just once remember that we’re here holding down the fort and holding the universe together for everyone?!? Pass the hot pockets."

One user tweeted, "Gen X want to know where to send the info for our retirement packages and that we're perfectly happy to let the door hit us in the ass on the way out." Another said, "It's okay, Gen X is used to being invisible." A third added, "Ummm, hi. You missed an entire generation that's finally becoming leaders in recent years - #GenX but sure, we're used to that."
