'Dark Matter' Episode 7's blink-and-you'll-miss-it detail teases huge alliance in finale
Contains spoilers and speculations for 'Dark Matter'
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: As Apple TV+'s 'Dark Matter' is inching closer to the finale, we can't help but guess how Jason Dessen's multiverse adventures are going to end.
The series revolves around Jason (played by Joel Edgerton), a physics professor, who is abducted by his alternate self and sent to another reality where Jason 2 made a divergent choice of choosing his career over family.
Jason 2, who is a renowned physicist, creates a box that allows multiverse travel. Regretting the choice he made fifteen years ago, he swaps life with Jason 1 to enjoy the marital life with Daniela (Jennifer Connelly).
Meanwhile, Jason 1 teams up with Amanda Lucas (Alice Braga) in Reality 2 to return to his original world and reunite with his wife and son.
'Dark Matter' Episode 7 titled 'In the Fires of Dead Stars' hinted that major mind-bending twists are awaiting in the last two episodes. It also contained a small but significant detail making us suspect a major alliance.
Amanda Lucas may have landed where Ryan Holder is trapped in 'Dark Matter' Episode 7
In Episode 7, Amanda opens the door to a beautiful, technologically advanced and empathetic world. This version of Chicago has northern lights too.
Well, if you may recall, the reality where Jason 2 abandoned Ryan Holder (Jimmi Simpson) also had northern lights illuminating Chicago's skyline.
This tiny detail suggests Amanda might be in the same dimension where Jason 2 left Ryan 1. Despite the infinite dimensions, fate may bring them together.
In 'Dark Matter' Episode 6, the box got locked when Jason 2 entered it, leaving Ryan outside. The box is not accessible for a few minutes from outside when someone goes inside it. However, it unlocks shortly after.
Ryan 1 may not have accessed the box since Jason 2 told him to use it in the right state of mind. And since his life has turned upside down due to Jason 2's evil act, he may have stayed in this new reality before he could come up with a plan and new pills to access the box.
Jason Dessen and Ryan Holder may team up in 'Dark Matter' finale
Amanda, who physiologically trained multiverse travelers in Reality 2 might encounter Ryan. Though this version of Ryan doesn't know Amanda, she knows Ryan from Reality 2.
Since Amanda has two pills that Jason 1 gave before leaving, she could help Ryan return to his reality.
If that happens, Ryan and Jason 1 could together have an epic showdown with Jason 2, setting the stage for an exciting finale. We could also expect a version of Leighton Vance reappearing in the finale who vanished from the narrative midway.
