'Dare Me' Episode 7: Addy comes face-to-face with first consequence of her close friendship with coach Colette

This article contains spoilers for 'Dare Me' Episode 7
'Dare Me' Episode 7 'Scorched Earth' was an end to what the squad had been working toward for the past two months — winning regionals. Beth's character development seems to be a knotted view — it's either black or white with her feelings, she feels nothing in between. In the previous episode, we saw Beth reeling from an attack on her pride, while in this episode she seems to weary of Addy's closeness with the coach Colette French, she seemed okay. Addy, who knows the firecracker Beth could be with her impulsive acts, thought Beth was her obstacle to overcome.
Teenagers running around with "illusions of immortality" are not just hard to control, they are easily trapped once given a sense of security. Addy, who is the closest to Beth, started to drift away from her best friend because she wanted to be recognized. Beth, on the other hand, focused on weed and alcohol, but we understand why with each episode. Once both girls became entangled in Colette's secret affair with Sergeant Will, they chose to get different things out of it: Beth had fresh blackmail, while Addy developed a budding friendship with her troubled coach.
In the process of helping her mentor with her outings with Will, she starts to notice how Colette is playing on more than one field. She wants her family at home and get naughty with Will. Colette, while regressing to her old days, resembles Beth a lot. And little did Addy know that she was replacing Beth's fiery impulses with that of Colette, an adult in dire need of absolute perfection.
Addy unknowingly moved from an unhealthy dependent relationship with Beth to a somehow dangerous dependent relationship with her coach. Colette came to the town already a star and with that pressure and esteem, comes more enemies than friends, so she found her solace in Addy. Being an adult, she should know more than to use a young mind as a crutch to help justify her actions with her husband and Will. Although in a locked spiral with two men, she admits to Addy how Matt grounded her, and how Will made her feel they were different. Addy said she understood.
Well, they won regionals, and are going to the State even after a confrontation between Beth and Addy. Like the coach said, "When you realize you're an eyelash away from a fall, you know the stakes are real." That explains why Addy ended up in a room with Colette and her dead lover Will. The first fatal consequence — Addy would have chosen to be just a teenager in a cheerleading squad instead of being expected to clean a bloody mess.
