BUFFALO, NEWYORK: All Buffalo Bills Safety Damar Hamlin wants is to get back out there and play football after he escaped death on the field while playing against the Cincinnati Bengals on January 3. However, it is unknown as of yet when that would be possible. Hamlin was resuscitated twice, once on the field and at the hospital where he spent nine days.

The 24-year-old has continued his recovery since and is now eying to return to the field and play. He even made a few surprise appearances at super bowl events following the tragic incident. Hamlin was honored on stage at the NFL Honors earlier this month along with his medical staff, and the Super Bowl audience at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, gave him a rousing welcome. Bills general manager Brandon Beane as per USA Today said Tuesday at the NFL scouting combine, “If he’s able to get full clearance and he feels he’s ready to do it, that’s another big smile of a story".

Damar Hamlin apologizes for 'blasphemous' Super Bowl jacket; slammed for calling it 'abstract art'

What exactly happened to NFL player Damar Hamlin?

'Why did it happen to me?'

Following the terrifying event, Damar Hamlin told Michael Strahan on Good Morning America that his desire is to return to the field. Not divulging the details of moments before getting hit as he was asked, Hamlin said, "That's something I don't really want to get too deep into the details of," he said. "That's something I'm still trying to work through. Why did it happen to me?"

Regarding Hamlin's comeback, Beane further said, "Not that he just got his life back, but he would have his football career back and have an opportunity to go out there and play."

Beane added, “We’ll continue to support Hamlin throughout this whole thing. I would love to give the storybook ending that he’s definitely going to play, but we don’t know that yet. If he does, we’ll all be happy for him.” Beane also said that Hamlin has seen multiple health specialists and has two or three more specialists to meet within various parts of the country as part of his evaluation. “It will be a decision for Damar, but it will also be a decision for us,” Beane said.

'So far, all is well with his testing'

Regarding when the star player can ultimately get back, Beane added, “We want to make sure we’re hearing everything. Assuming he gets full clearance, I know he would want to play. I know that’s his end game, to continue playing. We want to make sure we’re all in sync, assuming the doctors say at some point… we’re in agreement that we’re okay putting him out there, too. So far, all is well with his testing, and we’ll let that continue".
