'Cursed': Meet Katherine Langford, Devon Terrell, Daniel Sharman and more of the cast from Netflix's take on Arthurian lore
In yet another revamped rendition of the legendary King Arthur and his magical land, this time the Lady of the Lake - Nimue is the focus. As a witch from a persecuted clan with rather unusual abilities, Nimue goes on to spark a revolution when her people are slaughtered and ostracised constantly. King Arthur can be seen fighting the fight with Nimue and this is the youngest we have seen the gallant character on screen. The ensemble cast also sees some of the most familiar faces from the industry appear as Merlin, Gawain and even the Weeping Monk. Acquaint yourself with the who's who of the cast before its premiere next week.
Katherine Langford as Nimue
Pronounced Nim-Way, Langford's character is just as troubled and riddled with disturbing elements as was her groundbreaking role of Hannah Baker in the Netflix sensation '13 Reasons Why'. The 24-year-old Australian actress has also starred in some of the most successful big-screen projects like 'Love, Simon', The Misguided, and 'Knives Out'.
Devon Terrell as Arthur
The 27-year-old actor plays a much younger version of the king whose legends have been sprawled across history books and fantasies weaving gallant, yet intricate lore at the same time. Widely known for playing a young Barack Obama in the 2016 biographical film 'Barry' (2016). His other credits include works in 'Ophelia' (2018) and 'The Professor' (2018).
Gustaf Skarsgård as Merlin
The enchanter or wizard from Arthurian legend and medieval Welsh poetry is much older than Arthur in this series, but Skarsgård who plays the role doesn't need much introduction. Known for playing some of the finest antagonists of our time, he is the son of veteran actor Stellan John Skarsgård and his brothers are famous bad boys on the screen, Aleksander Skarsgård and the terrifying new 'It' from the movies, Bill Skarsgård. Gustaf's most prominent works are from 'Evil', 'The Way Back' and 'Kon-Tiki'.
Daniel Sharman as the Weeping Monk
Known for playing one of the finest bad-boy werewolves Isaac Lahey on the hit MTV drama 'Teen Wolf', the British actor has a slew of fantasy dramas to his name. 'Medici' (2016 – 2019), 'The Originals' (2013 – 2018), and 'Fear the Walking Dead' (since 2015) are some of them. His weeping monk has been described as a 'Tormented soul. Villainous crusader,' who 'Hunts the Fey.'
Peter Mullen as a terrifying religious leader
The prime antagonist in Nimue's story is a religious leader waging war against magical people, condemning witches to be burnt at the stake. Mullen, a Scottish actor, and filmmaker is best known for his role in 'The Claim', and Ken Loach's 'My Name Is Joe', which also won him the Best Actor Award at the 1998 Cannes Film Festival.
'Cursed' is premiering with all 10 episodes on July 17, only on Netflix. Bella Dayne, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Clive Russell, Sebastian Arnesto and Lily Newmark also star.
