Cristian Uvidia: Aunt of boy killed in crash slams Kim Foxx as accused teens charged with misdemeanor
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: The aunt of six-month-old Cristian Uvidia, who died last week on April 16 after a stolen Hyundai crashed into the Ford pickup truck his mother was driving with him and his two sisters, slammed Cook County State's Attorney Kim Foxx and other officials involved in the investigation. The aunt, Annelisse Rivera, said, “I think that the district attorney has just as much blood on her hands as the people who did this.”
The bashing came after the accused, two teenage boys, aged 17 and 14, were each charged with just one misdemeanor count of criminal trespassing in the deadly crash that took place in the West Garfield Park neighborhood's 4400 block of West Washington Boulevard at around 5.06 pm on April 16, reports ABC7 Chicago. The 6-month-old boy, whose skull was fractured in the crash, died in the hospital. While his 34-year-old mother and two sisters, aged 15 and 7, were injured and are being treated at a local hospital.

'You're putting salt on our wounds'
In a conversation with Fox News on Tuesday, April 25, Rivera expressed, "I want to know how you [Foxx] sleep at night, seeing my nephew's picture on the screen, how you can see his face and think that his life meant absolutely nothing. You're putting salt on our wounds. You're not bringing us justice, and even if you do something, we will never get our baby back. Ever. There is no true justice. This is absolutely something that I don't wish upon my worst enemy, truthfully… it's not a matter of if this is going to happen to another child, it's when. This is a daily occurrence in Chicago."
'Biggest slap on the wrist'
She then added, "It's absolutely ridiculous. It's really truthfully just the biggest slap on the wrist, but a slap in the face to us completely. I don't know if the people who put these charges on them have kids, but I think anybody, even without children, can understand that this is wrong. We are just as confused as the city of Chicago as to why this is occurring. t's really disheartening, and it's really upsetting." Talking further, Rivera accused Foxx of having as much "blood on her hands" as the accused who crashed the stolen car. She said, "It's been a week. We have not been contacted by either the police or the DA from what I have understanding of. It's really, really disappointing, and it just doesn't make any sense… There's not even justice for the person whose car they stole. Criminal trespassing? What, did they trespass into the car? It makes absolutely no sense. It's beyond me, and I think that the district attorney has just as much blood on her hands as the people who did this."
Community activists too demanded stronger charges for the culprits. One of them, Andrew Holmes, said, as per ABC 7 Chicago, "The charges did not fit the crime. My message is to the state's attorney, and anybody else that has hands on this case, 'What are you looking at? What are you feeling? How about first degree murder? How about reckless homicide?'"
