'Crisis on Infinite Earths' Part 4: Lex Luthor may not be the ideal Paragon of Truth, but he still has a lot to contribute

With the multiverse destroyed and the Paragons stuck at the Vanishing Point, things do seem pretty hopeless right now. However, thanks to Luthor joining their side, the Paragons might have a chance, no matter how slim, at turning things around and beating the Anti-Monitor.

Over the years, we've had many versions of Lex Luthor, both on-screen and in print. In all of those versions, Lex Luthor is ultimately a man who's desperately trying to do what he believes is right. Except for the Arrowverse version of the character, played by Jon Cryer.

This is why it was such a shock when the Monitor / Mar Novu (LaMonica Garrett) resurrected Luthor and sent him out into the multiverse to kill as many Supermen as possible. Yes, in the end, it turned out to have been the Monitor's way of flushing out the Paragon of Truth, Brandon Routh's 'Kingdom Come' / 'Superman Returns' version of the Man of Steel.

Of course, Lex Luthor is the last person who would be happy to settle for a minor role so obviously he found a way to make himself important again by usurping Kal-El's place as the Paragon of Truth. This means that, for better or for worse, Lex is going to have a major role to play in winning 'Crisis on Infinite Earths'.

With the multiverse destroyed and the Paragons stuck at the Vanishing Point, things do seem pretty hopeless right now. However, thanks to Luthor joining their side, the Paragons might have a chance, no matter how slim, at turning things around and beating the Anti-Monitor (also LaMonica Garrett).

Luthor might be a mad scientist but he is a scientist nonetheless and a pretty good one at that. Though the Time Masters' base may have been destroyed, there's bound to be at least a few ruined parts from derelict time ships floating around. Building an escape vessel out of these random scraps is no easy task but if anyone can do it, it's Luthor. The way things stand right now, it would appear the fate of the multiverse is in Luthor's slippery hands.

'Crisis on Infinite Earths' Part 4 will air exclusively on The CW on January 14.
