Police procedural dramas are often exciting, but Netflix's 'Criminal' takes it to a whole different level. With different series for different countries, these shows are like that one 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' episode with Sterling K Brown ('This is Us') — they are entirely set within the interrogation room. Now, with four new cases and suspects, the United Kingdom's version of 'Criminal' is set to hit Netflix shortly with its second season, with some big names on the roster. Read on to know more details about Season 2 of 'Criminal: United Kingdom'.

Release date

'Criminal: UK' will be available to stream on Netflix from Wednesday, September 16, at 12 am PST.

Plot

The first seasons of the series had three episodes each set in different territories — the UK, France, Germany and Spain. The episodes were entirely set in the interrogation rooms, and viewers had nothing but the behavior and the words of the suspects to figure out whether they were guilty or not. Similarly, in Season 2 of 'Criminal: UK', each episode will be a standalone case as police officers try to nail a suspect. Netflix's 'Criminal' series is different in that it is cerebral and is entirely dependent on the actors' abilities. The first season included some big names like David Tennant, Hayley Atwell and Youssef Kerkour as suspects. The second season will feature a different set of suspects.

The official synopsis for the season states: "Following a hugely successful first series and great critical acclaim, 'Criminal'  returns to Netflix globally on Weds 16 September with four new cases, four new suspects and one room that changes everything. Prepare for bold stories, some surprises, and a completely innovative take on the police procedural."
