'Counting On' star Jill Duggar faces backlash after sharing pictures from daughter's funeral after stillbirth
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jill Duggar and her husband Derick Dillard have laid their stillborn baby girl, Isla Marie Dillard, to rest.
On April 25, 2024, the 'Counting On' stars took to Instagram and shared a series of photos from the funeral service held for their stillborn daughter. The photos included a floral arrangement on a white box containing their daughter's remains, a service program, and a table with various items in memory of her, such as a dress, stuffed animals, and children's books. They also provided cards for writing tributes to their daughter, Isla.
"We love & miss you baby girl! Isla Marie Dillard. Laid to rest 4.19.2024. Isla (pronounced “eye-la”), is a family name and means “Devoted to God.” Marie is also a family name and means, “Wished for Child and Beloved.” The song we sang at Isla’s graveside committal service is one that we sang to each of our children in the womb," the pair wrote in the caption of the post.
The caption further read, “Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so. Little ones to him belong; they are weak, but he is strong. Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! The Bible tells me so. Jesus loves me he who died heaven’s gate to open wide. He will wash away my sin, let his little child come in. Jesus loves me, this I know, as he loved so long ago, taking children on his knee, saying, “Let them come to me.”
"'Jesus Loves Me' was written by Anna Bartlett Warner around 1860 and is said to have been spoken as a comfort for dying children," they concluded the post by writing.
Soon after, the netizens shared their stance on Jill and Derick sharing pictures from their stillborn daughter Isla's funeral.
One social media user wrote, "Is nothing private anymore?"
A user went on to say, "This is getting weird. Who poses like that for the cameras after digging a grave. Is there nothing you wouldn't do for publicity."
Followed by a user who penned, "This is disturbing."
Another user chimed in, "I'm very sorry for their loss, but all of this seems very inappropriate and just like calling for attention. The whole thing seems unnecessary, I would've kept it private and out of the public eye."
A third user quipped, "This so so sad but really disturbing. Why would you post the whole and coffin?"
