Netflix has announced it is releasing a documentary about the coronavirus pandemic this weekend. Titled 'Coronavirus, Explained', the documentary is a collaboration between Vox and Netflix. The show will explore how the virus became a pandemic affecting the whole world and will offer new insights into some of the questions arising from the COVID-19 outbreak. Read on to find out more information.

Release Date

'Coronavirus, Explained' will release on Sunday, April 26, 2020.

Plot

The official premise on Netflix reads, "In 2020, the world changed. This topical series examines the coronavirus pandemic, the efforts to combat it and ways to manage its mental health toll."

Life, as we know right now, is all about social distancing, self-isolating at home, going out only to buy essentials, working from home, not going out without masks, hoarding hand sanitizers, maintaining a six feet distance from others when out, and everything apart from essential businesses shut down among other issues. There is absolutely no cure so far and no vaccinations and multiple companies around the world are working towards solving that problem and till that time the burden lies on the heroic shoulders of frontline workers, healthcare professionals and everyone else who has stepped up during these times to keep the inconveniences of the general public like us, to a minimum. The rest of us have a part to play as well: staying home and not transmitting the virus since one can be an asymptomatic carrier, washing hands regularly, and just looking out for each other.

So how did we get here? What do we do now? And where do we go from here? These are a few of the questions that 'Coronavirus, Explained' is about to answer. The documentary is an extension of the series 'Explained' from 2018. Currently consisting of two seasons, the show has shed some light on topics such as cryptocurrency, cults, and K-pop. In a 2019 episode called ‘The Next Pandemic’, Bill Gates and a host of health and medical experts even warned of an impending pandemic.

Trailer

The trailer begins with Bill Gates saying, "If a really fast-moving respiratory pathogen came out we really wouldn't be able to pull those numbers down."

A voiceover in the trailer states, "Of all the viruses out there why did this one end up becoming the kind of pandemic we haven't seen in more than a century and how does a pandemic like this end?" and the documentary is about to answer that and many other questions related to COVID-19.
