'Copy paste in haste': Bill Clinton trolled over tribute to Dianne Feinstein instead of Rosalynn Carter
WASHINGTON, DC: Former President Bill Clinton drew the ire of social media users after he posted a tribute to former first lady Rosalynn Carter on Sunday, November 10.
While the tribute originally intended to honor the late Carter, who died at the age of 96, by mistake the post paid tribute to Dianne Feinstein, who died around two months ago.
Netizens were quick to respond to Clinton and his wife Hillary Clinton's tribute to Carter, calling it a "copy and paste in haste".
The tribute started with a short message that read, "Rosalynn Carter was the embodiment of a life lived with purpose."
After writing "My and Hillary's full statement," the Clintons uploaded the typed-out full statement where late Senator Feinstein's name can be seen even in the first sentence of the condolence message.
The statement started with the message, "Hillary and I are deeply saddened by the passing of our friend Senator Dianne Feinstein ...."
The netizens called out the former president for the gaffe and criticized him for not proofreading the message before posting it online, with some even accusing him of copying and pasting from the same material.
The original post, was however, deleted later and replaced with a new tribute dedicated to the former first lady.

The accidental tribute to Diane Feinstein inadvertently turned to comedic gold with the social media users leaving no stone unturned to troll the mistake.
One of the netizens said, "Wow. That is quite a blunder. Does anyone proofread or have any attention to detail these days?"

Some users joined the dots and said, "It a form memo…just fill in the blank."
Another netizen called out the staffer and said, "Clearly, his staffer sucks. Probably should have waited 'til she was done to send this out."

Noticing the mistake, one of the netizens explained pragmatically, "They probably planed to just change the name but forgot to."
Another user said, "Whoops!! Copy/Pasted condolence statements work better when you update the name of the deceased."

Copy/Pasted condolence statements work better when you update the name of the deceased. 🤣🤣
When did Senator Dianne Feinstein die?
California Senator Dianne Feinstein died on September 29, 2023, aged 90. During that time, Clinton posted the same tribute which was mistakenly used for Carter's obituary.
