While New York Police Department (NYPD) tracked a total of 53 transit cases in the recent week, as per the report, and a total o 445 cases so far in 2023. Commenting on the crime, Police Commissioner Keechant L Sewell said in a statement in March 2022, “The men and women of the New York City Police Department are proactively addressing the deep-rooted causes of criminal behavior. The NYPD will never relent, and the department has made far too much progress over the decades – and invested far too much in the communities it serves – to fall back by any measure. New Yorkers deserve better," as per CNN.
