'Women have failed': Blogger Constance Hall BLASTS Johnny Depp fans for 'degrading' Amber Heard
A popular blogger mom has bemoaned how the Amber Heard and Johnny Depp trial is "damaging" as internet sleuths are appearing to take Depp's side and "degrade" Heard in their observations.
28-year-old Constance Hall, a mother-of-seven, chimed in on the sensational trial on Monday, May 9, as Depp is suing ex-wife Heard for $50 million over a Washington Post op-ed she penned in 2018 claiming to be a victim of domestic abuse. While Heard didn't mention Depp by name, his lawyers have argued that the implications were obvious and it damaged their client's Hollywood prospects. The couple divorced in 2017 after less than two years of marriage.

Johnny Depp v Amber Heard: Here are FIVE glaring inconsistencies found in actors' testimonies
Depp has claimed Heard's accusations cost him several Hollywood gigs, including a new 'Pirates of the Caribbean' movie, being replaced in the 'Fantastic Beasts' film franchise, and a 'Harry Potter' spinoff. On the other hand, Heard has maintained that she only told the truth in her op-ed and that her speech was protected under the First Amendment.
Constance, who lives in Western Australia, wrote a lengthy post on Monday saying it would be the "only piece" she would write on the issue. According to reports, she said social media and the press have demonized Heard and glorified Depp throughout the trial, making it difficult for abuse victims to step forward in the future. "Every single negative comment written about Amber Heard's testimony is another nail in the coffin of a woman who was just about to speak up, who was just about to expose the truth, who was just about to leave," she said. "Those comments serve as nothing more than an example of what could happen to her, how she could be humiliated, laughed at, accused of lying."
The mom-of-seven said her younger daughter stumbled upon TikTok posts that were "degrading" Heard, meaning children were being exposed to the complicated narrative as well. "All I could do was remind her that women attacking women is not the cause of the problem, it's a symptom of it. The problem is female disadvantage, the problem is the advantages that supporting the empowered members of society offers everyone," she said. "This is no longer about Amber Heard and Johnny Depp, this was our chance to show women everywhere how far we as a society have come in taking their allegations of abuse seriously. This was our chance to save lives. And we have failed." Constance concluded that she was "scared" of the trial's larger repercussions, arguing that Heard can be a victim of abuse despite being a famous actress.
State court judge Penney Azcarate is overseeing the trial, which is expected to last until late May. It's worth noting that Depp lost a libel case in 2020 against The Sun -- a British newspaper that called him a "wife-beater" -- after a London High Court judge ruled he had repeatedly assaulted Heard. That said, the current lawsuit has been filed in Fairfax County, Virginia because the Washington Post is printed there. The newspaper, however, is not a defendant.
