Comic-Con 2019: 'Game of Thrones' showrunners David Benioff, Dan Weiss and director Miguel Sapochnik skip SDCC panel

The show's SDCC 2019 panel will now feature Jacob Anderson (Grey Worm), John Bradley (Samwell Tarly), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister), Maisie Williams (Arya Stark), and Isaac Hempstead Wright (Bran Stark)
UPDATED JUL 18, 2019

It has been reported that the 'Game of Thrones' showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss are not going to be attending the San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) this year.

HBO posted an updated 'GOT' panel line up on Twitter on Wednesday revealing major speaker changes.

The five previously announced panelists will not be going to SDCC 2019, reported Entertainment Weekly.

The earlier panelists included the likes of Benioff and Weiss, director Miguel Sapochnik, and cast members Nathalie Emmanuel (Missandei), and Iain Glen (Jorah Mormont).

HBO has not revealed the reason why Benioff, Weiss, Sapochnik, Emmanuel, and Glen were unable to make it to Comic-Con.

However, io9 had noted that Benioff and Weiss could be missing the event due to scheduling and production conflicts.

It has been speculated that the pair could be focusing on their upcoming 'Star Wars' films which will debut in a few years.

Even though fans and followers may not be able to question Benioff and Weiss about the ending of 'GOT', the show's SDCC 2019 panel will feature other stars such as Jacob Anderson (Grey Worm), John Bradley (Samwell Tarly), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (Jaime Lannister), Liam Cunningham (Davos Seaworth), Conleth Hill (Lord Varys), Maisie Williams (Arya Stark), and Isaac Hempstead Wright (Bran Stark).

The latest panel changes follow 'GOT' receiving around 32 Emmy nominations for Season 8 on July 16.

Both Benioff and Weiss were nominated for writing 'The Iron Throne' which is the 'Game of Thrones' series finale.

Sapochnik was nominated for directing 'The Long Night' which focused on the Battle of Winterfell.

Emilia Clarke and Gwendoline Christie were also nominated for their roles in the final season.

The 'Game of Thrones' Comic-Con panel is in Hall H on Friday at 5 p.m. PT.
