Lauren Boebert's controversies: Colorado congresswoman's history of run-ins with the law amid Capitol cop clash
A senior Democratic aide reportedly shared that the members of congress along with the staff at the Capitol will be asked to walk through metal detectors in order to get to the floor of the US House of Representatives. CNN reports the reason is being attributed to some of the House Democrats who are "worried" about the Republicans bringing in firearms. The metal detectors were put outside of the House Floor on January 12 afternoon. According to acting House Sergeant-at-Arms Timothy Blodgett, the detectors are being placed to "ensure compliance with police regulations banning guns and incendiary devices from the chamber." The article further revealed that the House Democrats had told CNN that they were "worried" that some of the lawmakers are "ignoring House rules regarding firearms."
Congresswoman Lauren Boebert refuses bag search
In a recent tweet, CNN Washington correspondent Ryan Nobles writes, "RIGHT NOW-> Congresswoman Lauren Boebert, who has bragged about her desire to carry a weapon on Capital Hill is currently in a standoff with Capitol Police at the newly installed Metal Detectors outside the chamber doors." He added, "Boebert walked through with her bag which set off the mags. She refused to offer the bag over to be searched and is now in a standoff with Cap Police."

According to reports, the Colorado Congresswoman had took to Twitter on January 10 posting a video where she saying, "I will carry my firearm in DC and in Congress." Nobles added, "Capitol Police won’t let her in until Boebert shows them what is in her bag, she won’t and is now standing by the entrance of the chamber. She is respectful but defiant." He is also sad that Boebert had been let into the chamber but it was "unclear" from his "vantage point" if Capitol Police ended up checking her bag.

Lauren Boebert mocks her arrest record
In an October 5, 2020 article by the Colorado Time Recorder, it had been reported that the congresswoman had no "remorse" after warrants for her arrest were issued and she boasted she didn't show up to court many for her tickets. "And I even got a pretty mugshot out of it," she said speaking of her arrest record. The article further mentioned that at a campaign stop in Walsenbury, the congresswoman spoke of her traffic violation, saying, "I didn’t pay the ticket. But I got it paid. One hundred dollars. And I even got a pretty mugshot out of it. Now that mug shot is being blasted everywhere to try to vilify me, to make me look like Colorado’s most wanted, while they are promoting defund-the-police organizations. This is not right.”
Her record with the law
The article also spoke of Boebert's other run-ins with the law. In 2016, she was given a traffic ticket for "rolling her truck on a rural road," but she was not arrested for that infraction. Later though, she was arrested because she did not attend her mandatory court hearing, she didn't even tell the court. The court had tried to re-schedule with her, but they were ignored. Four months later, she was arrested by Garfield Country Court and was in jail for a short period of time. She went through the fingerprinting and mugshot while protesting it. In 2017 the matter was done when she paid $100 at a court appearance.
Many have shared her mugshots online, with one user commenting on a tweet writing, "I like this picture of you better. It's your mugshot, remember?"

In fact, it turns out that, that was not the first time the congresswoman skipped a mandatory hearing - the same event occurred in 2015 where Boebert didn't show up for two hearings. She ended up having to apologize to Mesa County Court after she was arrested for not making her court appearance. The case was a "disorderly conduct charge" and was later dismissed. According to reports, the incident had taken place at the Country Jam music festival where Boebert, according to sheriff's deputies had "encouraged people arrested for underage drinking to break free." She also said that she had "friends at Fox News," a few times.
According to court records revealed by Colorado Times Recorder, Boebert wrote, “For the second time pertaining to this case I have missed my scheduled court date on November 20, 2015,” to Mesa County Court Judge Craig Henderson. "I apologize for irresponsibly wasting the court’s time with this matter. I want nothing more than to be finished with this case, as it is not something I keep on the forefront of my thinking. I am writing this letter to request a new court date.”
Another report by Colorado Times Recorder on July 22, 2020, reveals that Boebert had allowed a server who was underage to carry a gun in her restaurant, Shooters Grill. The server who was 17 years old at the time told Barcroft TV Interview in 2015 that she can carry at work because "it's Lauren's private property. And she allows me to."
