Video shows Coachella acrobat crashing to ground from high above venue after act goes horribly wrong
INDIO, CALIFONIA: A terrifying video showed the moment a Coachella acrobatic dancer plunged from high above the venue and crashed on stage during a live DJ performance on the second day of the music festival on Sunday, April 18. In the footage, the dancer was seen twirling upside-down about twenty feet off the stage before plummeting and falling to the ground. Shortly after, she could be seen lying motionless on her back while other dancers rushed to her aid.
Paramedics were also seen arriving at the scene to tend to the dancer. The woman reportedly performed for about five minutes before crashing down and harshly landing between a pair of speakers, leaving audience members screaming in horror, TMZ reported. However, the DJ reportedly continued playing his set before audience members asked him to stop his performance while the woman was being treated. The publication also noted a young girl in the audience fainted from the shock of the incident.

The dancer was eventually strapped on a stretcher and carried away from the venue but no further updates about her condition were made available to the public. She was reportedly seen blinking after the fall in the video. It remains unclear if the acrobat fell after hurting herself during the dance routine or lost her grip on the aerial prop. It is also not known which agency represented the dancer as authorities are yet to issue a statement about the incident at the time of writing.
‘Pretty bad fall’
In the wake of the Coachella incident, some social media users took to Twitter to send their prayers for the injured dancer. “Huggs. Prayers. Sent,” one user wrote. “I hope she’s OK. Sounds like a pretty bad fall,” added another. “Get well soon,” one commented.
One said, “Are concerts becoming to dangerous? ..there have been numerous deadly accidents that have happened recently during concerts and Coachella was not accident free at all ..a female acrobat fell from the sky during the concert. #COACHELLA2023 #Coachella” while another replied, “from the sky lol, she was dangling from a moon thing. There’s a reason the festival and performer have insurance for things like this.”

Coachella Music Festival has witnessed multiple incidents over the years
The latest incident was not the first time a worker was injured at the Coachella Music Festival. Just a few days before the onstage incident, an Indio police officer on festival traffic duty was hospitalized after a collision at the intersection of Jackson Street and Odlum Drive, the Desert Sun reported. The site of the crash at Odlum Drive marked an entrance to the Indian Palms Country Club nearly 2 miles from the festival.
Back in 2019, a worker fell to his death while making the stage for the festival, the Daily Mail reported. The staff was identified as a “lead rigger” who had been working as a stagehand for the festival for 20 years. “He has been with our team for 20 years in the desert and was doing what he loved. He was a hard-working and loving person that cared deeply about his team. As our lead rigger, he was responsible for the countless incredible shows that have been put on at the festival,” authorities said at the time.
