Don Lemon says Trump voters are on the side of Klansmen, Nazis and Capitol rioters, Internet says that's 'obvious'
CNN's Don Lemon stirred up quite the conversation on Twitter when he went on an on-air rant slamming President Donald Trump's supporters. In the CNN segment, he said, "You're in the crowd who voted for Trump." The tirade didn't end there as he compared them to the Ku Klux Klan and the Nazis. "If you voted for Trump you voted for the person who the Klan supported. You voted for the person who Nazis support. You voted for the person who the alt-right supports. That's the crowd that you are in. You voted for the person who incited a crowd to go into the Capitol and potentially take the lives of lawmakers. Took the lives of police officers. Took the lives of innocent lives who were there on the Capitol that day."
The internet took notice of Lemon's words and while took to Twitter to share their opinions. While some felt he was right to carry on with the rant and the comparison, a bunch felt what he said was nothing new and was "stating the obvious."
"WTF I didn't know I had so many domestic terrorists monitoring my rants. I support Don Lemon," read one of the tweets. This was seconded by another who wrote: "He's correct. Any time you see a photo of a hangmans noose erected in front of Capitol Hill, on all mass media, worldwide. It sure looks like it to me. Or you thought they were all there for renovations, right. I'll be waiting for your answer on the 1st part, okay..."

Many more followed suit. "Violation of 14th amendment =expulsion from Congress. Over 140 Republicans in the House should be expelled immediately. @HouseGOP @HouseDemocrats @SenateGOP @SenateDems America! Demand action to remove these insurrectionists in Congress! We must not let them get away with it!" read one of the comments.

This comes after Trump's second impeachment for 'incitement to insurrection' in the Capitol attack. Not many had forgotten the riots just yet. "The election was free & fair DJT continues to spread misinformation #Propaganda which is fuelling this hate ~ @donlemon is asking people to choose going forward - chose #democracy/ #domesticterrorists #DoBetter #RemoveTrumpNow," one of the people opined.
The election was free & fair 🤷🏻♀️

And while Lemon did face criticism following his statement, he remained unapologetic. Talking to CNN's Chris Cuomo on Thursday, he said, "They are allowed to their own opinion. It doesn't mean that they're right, but they're allowed to their own opinion and I believe what I said last night." One section didn't see the point of the rant as they felt he was just telling people what they already knew. "I don't know why people are upset about what he said he's pointing out the obvious," read a tweet.

There is a history between Trump supporters and Lemon. Earlier this month, he waved off the idea of respecting Trump's voters as he claimed they "beleve bulls**t". Prior to this, he called them "drug addicts" on 'CNN Tonight'. "I think they have to hit rock bottom like an addict, right?" while explaining having to "get rid of" friends who stood behind the president," he said.
