'CMA Country Christmas' 2019: Chris Janson's harmonica solo in 'Run Run Rudolph' has fans calling it best performance of the night
With less than a month to go for Christmas, ABC is setting people in mood for the joyful season with its airing of the 'CMA Country Christmas' special tonight. Hosted by Trisha Yearwood, who opened the night, the event has already seen the likes of Lady Antebellum, Tori Kelly and Rascal Flatts with CeCe Winans sing the viewers into Christmas.
However, it was the country music singer, Chris Janson's rendition of 'Run Run Rudolph' that has fans leaping with joy. With the country-rock take (emulating Chuck Berry) on the timeless Christmas classic originally written by Johnny Marks and Marvin Brodie and popularized by Berry, Janson had fans clapping and bobbing their heads along as he raised the spirit of the season tenfold.
Janson is a well-known harmonica player and as viewers might have expected, he broke into a harmonica solo midway during his performance. If viewers did not think his performance was one for the books tonight until then, now was the time.
One fan is certain of it as they tweeted, "Calling it now @janson_chris best performance of the night #CMAcountryChristmas." Another wrote, "My dude @janson_chris adding in a sick harmonica solo to Run Run Rudolph. I can appreciate that #CMACountryChristmas."
Adding to that, another fan tweeted, "My favorite! @janson_chris #CmaCountryChristmas #runrunrudolph Digging that harmonica vibe!"
Chris Janson is best known for his songs such as 'Buy Me a Boat', 'Fix a Drink', 'Drunk Girl', and 'Good Vibes'. While fans may want more performances by him on the show tonight, they might be disappointed to find out that 'Run Run Rudolph' will be his only performance this year. The reason being that on the same night that the special was taped, Janson was also headlining a sold-out show at the historic Ryman Auditorium downtown.
The CMA Country Christmas special is airing on ABC tonight.
