‘City On A Hill’ Season 2 Episode 3: Is Frankie Ryan dead? These theories on why Cathy shot Jimmy will shock you
Packed with thrill, ‘City On A Hill’ unleashes many shocks and surprises. In the last episode ‘I Need a Goat’, Ryans — the antagonists from season one — came into focus. Frankie Ryan (Jonathan Tucker) was hauled away for the armed bank robbery and the one ratting him out was his younger brother, Jimmy Ryan (Mark O'Brien). This fractured the relationship between Frankie's wife, Cathy Ryan (Amanda Clayton), and Jimmy.
A working-class father, husband, and leader of a gang of Charlestown robbers, Frankie has been looking after his troubled younger brother, Jimmy for a long time now. The role is played by Jonathan Tucker, who was earlier seen on ‘American Gods’, ‘Westworld’, ‘Justified’ and ‘Call Of Duty: WWII’.

Unknown to Cathy, Jimmy still works as an informant for the FBI, while also making a living from dealing drugs. Life, on the other hand, has not been kind to Cathy and her three kids with finances becoming a huge problem.
News of Frankie's criminal activities is no longer a secret and this “publicity” hits her beauty salon business leading to this income stream drying up as well. Eventually, help for Cathy comes in the form of Jimmy who hands her ten grand to keep the family afloat. After initially tossing him aside, she realizes Jimmy's money comes from selling drugs and decides to join the business.
In the new episode titled ‘Is The Total Black, Being Spoken’, Jackie Rohr (Kevin Bacon) uncovers one of Decourcy Ward's (Aldis Hodge) informants and hatches a plan to use him as a pawn to discredit the assistant district attorney. Decourcy stops by the Rohr house, hoping to get something out of Jenny (Jill Hennessy) that he can use against her husband. Siobhan (Lauren E Banks) receives some welcome news, in the midst of plotting her run for City Council. And her client, Kelvin Campbell, is released from custody, though he can't free himself of what happened on Valentine's Day. Jimmy Ryan, meanwhile, faces problems far worse than a guilty conscience.
The episode ends with a major shocker as Cathy shoots Jimmy and now many fans can't stop wondering if Frankie is really dead.
One fan posted, “@jonathanmtucker how dare your wifey do business with your scumbag snitch brother after what he did to you, Frankie!?” Another went on to write, “Lol. When she showed up at the prison in today's episode, I got excited & thought for sure we'd get a brief cameo from @jonathanmtucker reprising his role as Frankie Ryan... But nah, no such luck ... bummer, man!”
A third went on to wonder: “This new episode of #CityOnAHill was crazy. So is Frankie dead? He was probably my favorite character. Why did Cathy shoot Jimmy? Why now? This community activist character also really annoys me to death. I hate the sanctimonious, preachy types.”

This community activist character also really annoys me to death. I hate the sanctimonious, preachy types.
Fans on Reddit are mourning the character. “I honestly didn't expect Jimmy to die so soon in the season. He was really great character,” one posted and another said, “Same. Jimmy’s death seems premature and WTF they changed the actor who played his brother.” A third remarked, “No, that's Tommy from season 1. In the conversation Cathy & Tommy were having, Tommy mentions how she's holding up after what happened to Frankie & not letting the kids know. Tommy's head is shaven & he has a scar now.”
