NEW HAVEN, CONNECTICUT: A Yale professor has found herself in deep water after Yale Medicine posted a video on social media in which she can be seen explaining a university program that helps children as young as 3 years old with their "gender journey".

The video drawing criticism on social media showed Yale professor Christy Olezeski saying, "I am the director of the Yale gender program, which is an interdisciplinary program working with gender-expansive individuals 3 to 25 and their families.” Further, she added, "We help individuals who are questioning their gender identity or who identify as transgender or non-binary, and we help them with their gender journey."

The professor also revealed that the university program provides complete guidance on "medical intervention" and when to begin that process. "I love what I do," Olezeski said. "So, it’s really, really wonderful to be working in this field and to be working with individuals who are gender diverse and gaining their support and helping them on their gender journeys."

The university program website states that only individuals older than 18 years are eligible for transgender surgeries but does not specify how early hormones and puberty blockers can be used.

Although the video posted on Yale Medicine's YouTube channel has now been removed, social media users were quick enough to notice it and heavily criticized the professor for including young children in the program.

“3-year-olds?! Children are innocent beings that only know what they are taught. Three years old shouldn’t be concerned with genders let them be children. Leave children ALONE,” one social media user said. While another one slammed the professor saying, “3-YEAR-OLDS should not be led to change genders! Leave them alone”.

“They are doing this - and they are destroying the human race,” the third user said. Another user tagged Yale medicine and said, “Speaking of child injury, this is one of your professors and I believe she said she works with people from 3 years old to 20 on their, “gender journey.” That sounds like child abuse to me.”

One user said, “The defense of hormone therapy for young children is not based on scientific data but rather on the greed of the huge pharmaceutical industry. This is what happens when societies tend to value profit margins over human integrity.”

While social media users are blasting Yale university and Olezeski, the professor and varsity have kept their silence and refused to make any statement.
