Chrissy Teigen called 'Sponge Bob-shaped' after posting swimsuit thirst trap: 'Where did your hips go?'
Chrissy Teigen on Sunday, April 26, slammed online trolls who shamed her for her 'square' shape. The flood of critical comments first trickled in on Saturday evening after Teigen posted a clip of herself sporting a black maillot with a plunging neckline to her Instagram story.
Teigen posted a clip of herself sporting a plunging swimsuit on her Instagram story. She later also posted the clip to her Twitter page captioning it, "Don’t get too trapped".
Her hair was up in a bun and she was seen to be completely makeup-free while filming the clip with her phone camera in her bathroom. "I never post thirst traps. So here I am, trapping you, in thirst, with thirst" said the 'Chrissy's Court' star, jokingly while showing off how well the swimsuit fit her. A comment under the clip read, "Shaped like sponge bob lol"
"Where did your hips go?" asked another follower in the comments.
Teigen seemed to have taken it in her stride when she took to the comment section with, "It’s ok I’ve been a rectangle my whole life and it’s gotten me pretty far!"
There were a lot of followers in the comments who were hitting back at the haters for putting down Teigen. Someone wrote, "So, @chrissyteigen posted a quick vid of herself in a body suite & the world went on attack. Men & women both throwing insults. I only WISH I could look like her! When did all these asshats become walking perfect Ken and Barbies? #douchebags".
Teigen quote tweeted that comment with, "Everyone used to....surgically enhanced curves. I’ve been a square my whole life and let me tell you, it’s paid off nicely in many ways!" She continued to go off on her haters with: "Imagine if one day I showed up with hips and an ass. Ooooo you guys would be pissed then too! I’m happy, John’s happy, we all happy and doing a-okay!"
Actress-activist Jameela Jamil was one of the many who came to Teigen's rescue. "I loved the video. Didn’t see a shape. Just saw fire." she tweeted. Teigen was quick to thank Jamil for her support and replied, "Thank u :( I’ve gotten used to my right angle bod, you’d think people have seen it enough that it doesn’t shock them anymore but nope lol," with a heart emoji.
