'That's a great exit interview': Chris Cuomo slammed for saying he wanted ‘to kill everybody and himself’ after CNN ‘s**t-canned’ him

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Former CNN anchor Chris Cuomo, who now reports via NewsNation, recently revealed that he was going to kill everybody and himself after being fired from CNN in December 2021. “I had to accept [my firing] because I was going to kill everybody, including myself,” the 52-year-old shared on Anthony Scaramucci's podcast ‘Open Book’ on Wednesday, February 15, 2023.

Cuomo, who was terminated following an investigation into his conduct relating to his brother and the former New York governor Andrew Cuomo, who was accused of sexual assault, told Scaramucci, "You've got to make things happen. There is no luck, there is no fate, there is no destiny. What happens is what you make happen and how you deal with what is made to happen to you, for better and worse. And you know, I make a lot of mistakes — sometimes for good reasons, sometimes for bad reason. I'm very flawed. There's damage, there's damage that's relatable to people, there's damage that's unrelatable to people that I have to deal with that I try to deal with that I do the work on, I still fail." He added, "And I have learned to accept that. I had to accept because I was gonna kill everybody, including myself. Things can consume you. Italians are so passionate. And I really had to fight against that because, you know, just like you did, I got too many people counting on me," reports Fox News.

What is Chris Cuomo's net worth? A look into his assets after being fired by CNN

Cuomo continued, "And look, I'm gonna screw up. And I always tell my kids, you know, almost 20, 17, 13, that — don't be me. Learn from me. I love you. I will always love you, doesn't matter what you do, and I am here for whatever I can do. I'm gonna get angry, I'm gonna screw up, I'm gonna make mistakes, I'm gonna say and do things that you should not say and do. And I try, but I fail. And you have to know that. And don't idolize me because I am no idol. I'm just someone to learn from, for better and worse. And I wish I had been told that more. I wish I didn't have to go through the same cycle that so many of us do where you put everyone in your life up on a pedestal, because when they fall, that rebound effect is usually too dramatic. And had I just had clearer eyes from the beginning, it would have made more sense sooner."

He also recalled his time at CNN, as reported by Page Six, “At CNN and I wasn’t set up to be [No. 1]. I wasn’t the big name there, I didn’t have the big team, they didn’t do the advertising about me. But I was still No. 1. Why? Because it was the best show. Because I was giving people what they needed in that moment.”

'He sounds like a RED FLAG candidate'

Following his interview, many users on social media reacted to his bizarre statement of "killing everybody." One of the users said, "Chris Cuomo did not need to tell us that." Another said, "Chris Cuomo has to understand that getting fired isn't the end of the world. I knew he would turn up someplace. This is chance on NewNation to build up his audience and prove himself once again." One user said, "Chris Cuomo: ‘I was going to kill everybody and myself’ after CNN firing. He sounds like a RED FLAG candidate." "That's a great exit interview," one social media user said.

While an individual asked, "@ChrisCuomo Can you please share who at @CNN you wanted to kill in the order you were going to kill them? Just curious as to who you hated the most. I’m not a fan of CNN at all, but at times I agreed with some of the things you were saying."

Another user wrote, "Chris Cuomo is talking about how he thought about killing people at work after getting fired, while also complaining about the ratings on his current show, and saying that his career was taken from him. That should be worrying for everyone around him."

The termination of Chris Cuomo

Cuomo was first suspended, then terminated, by then CNN President Jeff Zucker. On December 1, 2021, CNN said that it had suspended the 'Cuomo Prime Time' anchor for violating CNN's journalistic ethics when he helped his brother Andrew Cuomo. On December 4, he was fired by the network who stated, as per People, "We retained a respected law firm to conduct a review, and have terminated him, effective immediately. While in the process of that review, additional information has come to light." The former anchor was hit with an allegation of sexual harassment. However, he called his termination from CNN “unwarranted” and also stated, "This is not how I want my time at CNN to end but I have already told you why and how I helped my brother. So let me now say as disappointing as this is, I could not be more proud of the team at Cuomo Prime Time and the work we did as CNN’s #1 show in the most competitive time slot. I owe them all and will miss that group of special people who did really important work," reports CNN.
