Chris Cuomo says when White kids 'start getting killed' police reform will happen, dubbed 'mentally twisted'
CNN host Chris Cuomo claimed on primetime news on April 16 that police reform in the US is an unattainable task until "White people’s kids start getting killed". Cuomo's remarks came shortly after the bodycam footage of Adam Toledo's death was released to the public last week. Toledo was a 13-year-old boy who was shot by Chicago police on March 29. His death was followed by that of 20-year-old Daunte Wright, who was fatally shot by a Minneapolis cop who is currently facing murder charges. These incidents taking place while former Minnesota cop Derek Chauvin is on trial for killing George Floyd on May 25, 2020, has led to massive nationwide protests, with some even turning violent.
Speaking about the prospect of police reform in the country, Cuomo claimed during a CNN broadcast: "And you know what the answer is. You really do. You don’t like it. I don’t like. It scares me. Shootings, gun laws, access to weapons? Oh, I know when they’ll change. (sic) Your kids start getting killed. White people’s kids start getting killed." Playing out a scenario, Cuomo continued how a White person could be "smoking that doobie that’s actually legal, probably in your state now, but they don’t know what it was, and then the kid runs, and then ‘Pop! Pop! Pop! Pop!’ Cop was justified.”

Cuomo then continued with the scenario, bringing up potential questions such as "'Why’d you run?' 'Oh, he had a baseball game tonight.' 'Oh? White kid? Oh, big family, that house over there?' Those start piling up." He claimed people would then start asking, "‘What is going on with these police? Oh, what? Maybe we shouldn’t even have police!’ That kind of mania, that kind of madness, that’ll be you. That’ll be the majority, because it’s your people." Cuomo added: "See, now Black people start getting all guns, forming militias, protect themselves? ‘Can’t trust Deep State!’ Whoo-whoo! You’ll see a wave of change, in access and accountability. We saw it in the 60s. That’s when it changes, because that’s when it’s you.”
Cuomo claimed, "It's my job is to show you in them, because there but for the grace, and the grace is forgiveness that none of us deserve for the blessings that we’re wasting in this country. That is our reality. And the reality is clear, and the state of play is unchanging, and that is not a recipe for any type of longevity." But social media has dubbed the host a 'clown' and people are asking how this commentary is even allowed on primetime television.
Chris Cuomo is one of the dumber TV partisans. Here he dramatically attempts to explain what it'll take for white people to back radical police reforms he likes: more white kids must be shot by police (though CNN often ignores stories they can't turn into stories about racism). pic.twitter.com/aoSs3c2vQy

Jason Rantz of KTTH Radio tweeted, "Chris Cuomo is one of the dumber TV partisans. Here he dramatically attempts to explain what it'll take for white people to back radical police reforms he likes: more white kids must be shot by police (though CNN often ignores stories they can't turn into stories about racism)." He added the clip of Cuomo's rant on CNN under his caption, and soon criticism poured in for both the Cuomo brothers — Chris and New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.
"This guy is mentally twisted to be on television," slammed one user under Rantz's tweet of the clip. Another dragged his politician brother in and claimed, "The Cuomo boys are both egotistical not it all’s who care NOTHING about real problems. So to me anything Chris has to say is a WASTE OF GOOD AIR! He should go away & take his brother with him!" Many pointed fingers at Cuomo's own heritage and dissed, "Cuomo needs to remember he’s whiter than a snowflake."

Others got into the depths of Cuomo's alleged 'lies', tweeting: "I mean honestly this guy is speaking a complete lie on the news. This is the narrative and agenda they spread the brings more divide and hate into our country. They act like black people are murdered all over. Out of over a million altercations a year only about 9 unarmed areshot." Some chose to call the recent shootings as 'accidents' and said "ACCIDENTS can happen to anyone. This accident was Heartbreaking, but not an evil act."
