'Chilling Adventures of Sabrina' Part 3 Episode 5: Sabrina fights for Hell's throne as Pagans endanger the coven
This article contains spoilers for 'Chilling Adventures of Sabrina' Part 3
In Episode 5 titled 'The Devil Within' we see Sabrina Spellman on a quest to complete her second challenge against her competitor, Prince Caliban, for the throne of Hell.
Without the protection of the now free Dark Lord Lucifer, the coven is in danger of extinction along with being cursed and threatened by the Pagans, who are out for witch blood.
As the coven performs the unholiest of rituals to rectify their lost strength, the Dark Lord continues to cause mayhem from afar seeking revenge for the people who abandoned his dark will.
Sabrina is awaited by the Hordes of Hell, who have summoned her to complete the challenge of retrieving the second unholy artifact — the bowl of Pontius Pilate.
Sabrina, unwilling to claim the throne of hell has tipped the balance of the cosmos, brought the pagans to the town of Greendale and resulted in the coven's slow loss of power.
In order to make things right, Sabrina heads to the Temple of Jerusalem in Golgatha, the place of skulls, to retrieve the bowl and claim her blood right to Hell's throne.
With the bowl being locked in an eternal time loop, she must take precautions to avoid the same fate and uses the water that touched the egg that Ambrose brought from Loch Ness — this egg has properties that can warp time.
After closing in on the Temple of Jerusalem using a portal from one of Dorian Gray's paintings, Sabrina is imprisoned by Pontius Pilate. Using glamour and the help of the thief Barrabas, Sabrina is able to get a hold of the bowl of Pontius Pilate leaving her competitor, who was also trapped, behind.
When Lucifer escaped the Academy in the body of former High Priest of the Church of Night, Father Faustus Blackwood, he left behind Nick who was suffering from the poison of Satanic drugs.
Ambrose, in an effort to bring Nick back, uses leeches to help suck out the poison but the leeches end up dead because their blood coagulated. Ambrose and Sabrina realize that the coagulated blood is the residue of the Dark Lord that's still left inside Nick and the only way to get it out of him is to lure it with blood like its own.
Since Sabrina is the daughter of Lucifer, she drops her blood on Nicks's body luring out the Dark Lord's residue and putting it into the bowl of Pontius Pilate with Holy water. With Nick now free from sickness, he realizes he needs space and breaks up with his girlfriend, Sabrina, the Queen of Hell.
Meanwhile, the coven continues to get sick, especially Hilda, who after being cursed by the Pagans is turning into her familiars, spiders. In order to save themselves from the Pagans, the coven decides to use Stonehenge, a circle of ancient stones that collect and amplify powers.
They perform a ritual in which they summon Hedge witches to help fortify the coven. During this ceremony, the Dark Lord ends up freeing Agatha who has been driven mad by looking into the eyes of the great Pagan Monster, God Pan.
She breaks one of the stones and the coven thinks the ritual didn't work because the transmission fell short and the frequencies from the stones didn't harmonize.
As the coven then planned to use the Dark Lord's residue in order to still have some protection from Lucifer to help ward off the Pagans, the witches they called upon come for their heads because they were summoned against their will.
On the mortal side of things, Harvey and his friends go to the carnival to destroy it in order to avenge Sabrina's coven only to have a pagan turn his friends into pigs. As Theo and Harvey bring the pigs to safety under the caution of Robin, Theo's boyfriend, Robin gets ready to expose the fact that he, too, is a pagan.
