Blaring sirens, severe thunderstorms and power outages leave Chicago residents SHAKEN
Ahead of a potential extreme heat wave this week, a thunderstorm swept through the Chicago area on Monday, June 13, evening. This resulted in tornado warnings and widespread damages to property. A funnel cloud was reported over Gary and is now moving towards southeast.
As reported by NBC 5, the storm could move into Lyons, Justice, Summit, Bridgeview, Hickory Hills, Hodgkins, Burbank, Palos Hills, Northerly Island, Brighton Park, Chicago Ridge, Worth, Oak Lawn, Chicago Lawn, Bridgeport, Ashburn and New City. Two meteorologists of CBS, Mary Kay Kleist and Albert Ramon reported no funnel clouds have been spotted from that storm system, although the system is producing heavy rain, and hail and severe winds are also possible. A tornado watch has also been canceled in DeKalb, Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kankakee, Kendall, Lake, McHenry and Will counties in Illinois.
