'Chicago P.D.' Season 7 Episode 7 shows mob boss Darius Walker to be Hank Voight's most formidable foe yet
Earlier on in the seventh season of 'Chicago P.D.', Interim Superintendent Jason Crawford and Intelligence Unit head Hank Voight decide to take in a major Chicago mob boss, Darius Walker, as a CI.
Walker is the Robin Hood of mob bosses - using the money he makes from selling drugs to help the African-American community and Voight knows it is best to keep Walker on the streets rather than have someone less moral replace him.
This week, Crawford tasks Voight and his team to get to the bottom of who is selling a dangerous drug on the streets, and Voight ropes in Walker for a lead. However, neither Voight nor Walker trust each other and the latter provides incomplete information.
Voight arrests Walker and gets him to spill more details, but Walker sees Hailey Upton's CI, who had come to the station to help Hailey out with the case more. The CI is later murdered in cold blood in front of Hailey, and though she strongly suspects Walker is behind it, the team agrees that they cannot arrest him without more proof. Further, as mentioned before, Voight tells Hailey that it is more valuable to have Walker outside, rather than in jail and though Hailey disagrees, she lets it go for now.
What is clear is that Darius Walker may be in Voight's net, but he may be playing his own dangerous game. We will have to watch through the season to see how it plays out, but it looks like Voight might have finally met his match.
We might even see Walker stick on for more than one season and it would be cool to see Voight's and Walker's interactions through the season and how they circle each other. Halstead even says at one point that Walker sounds like Voight.
'Chicago P.D.' airs on NBC on Wednesday nights.
