When will 'Chicago PD' Season 8 Episode 7 air? Adam Ruzek's informant could ruin the whole operation
It seems like one week after the other, the characters on NBC's 'Chicago PD' are getting into some form of trouble. First, there was Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins), through no fault of his own, then there was Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos), then Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer), and now we have Adam Ruzek (Patrick Flueger), whose job could be on the line in the next episode.
Of course, among all of them, Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) is the one who is always doing things to jeopardize his career — but being the White man that he is, he always escapes without much trouble. Perhaps, Voight is a bad influence after all, but whether 'Chicago PD' will take that narrative remains to be seen.

What happened previously?
In the most recent episode, Jay Halstead and Hailey Upton team up to solve the case of a young boy's murder and to capture Dante, a drug lord who has been selling fentanyl-laced heroin on the streets, resulting in many overdoses. The young boy's father, though not a cop, was working undercover to uncover the murderer, but because he was a civilian he could be charged. Nevertheless, Halstead is determined to help him.
When Halstead determines that Dante did not kill the boy, the cops close in on another suspect. However, when that suspect ends up dead from a shooting, Halstead is forced to consider whether the boy's father could have killed him. He finds the car that fled the scene at the father's garage, but before he arrests him, Halstead asks what he did with the gun.
The man says that he tossed it in the river when Halstead replies that he has to find a good lawyer and remain quiet. The man is then arrested. Other updates from previous episodes include Upton and Halstead getting together, Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) adopting Mikayla, the little girl who witnessed her entire family being murdered, and Voight forced to work with Samantha Miller (Nicole Ari Parker), who wants Voight to get with the new agenda of addressing police brutality.

'Chicago PD' Season 8 Episode 7, titled 'Instinct', will air on Wednesday, February 17, at 10/9c.
What to expect from Episode 7?
The synopsis for 'Chicago PD' Season 8 Episode 7 reads, "After a series of deadly ambushes, the team goes undercover to bring down a dangerous new drug dealer who is determined to push out the competition. Ruzek’s informant proves to be a loose cannon that could upset the whole operation."
It has been a while since we saw a Ruzek-centric story that focused on his career. He has been through some personal difficulties — Burgess getting pregnant, her miscarriage — so much of recent stories have focused on his personal life. While Ruzek and Burgess kissed in a recent episode, we are not certain whether they are truly back together, and with Burgess now being a foster mom, the dynamics of their relationship is certain to change.
Ruzek has had his issues in the past. He was recruited into the Intelligence Unit right from the academy and he even went to prison at one point when he covered up for his colleague. Of course, this being 'Chicago PD', and Ruzek being a White man, that story ended with him returning to the Intelligence Unit anyway. Of all the officers on the team, Ruzek is perhaps the one that needs more finesse and the upcoming episode may force him to learn a lesson.
