'Chicago PD' Season 7 Episode 19 focuses on Adam Ruzek, fans gush over him and hope for a 'Burzek' reunion

When this week's episode of 'Chicago PD' starts, the Intelligence Squad is just going home from their shift. Sgt Trudy Platt gets Detective Jay Halstead to admit he misses Detective Hailey Upton, who is missing from this week's episode as the actress Tracy Spiridakos guest stars on CBS's 'FBI' as Upton though Platt knows something more is up.
However, since Upton is absent in the episode, this week's romantic tensions were placed upon Adam Ruzek and Kim Burgess. The two characters have gone through a lot this season. They went from sleeping with one another to almost becoming parents and going through the tragic loss of their unborn baby.
At the start of the episode, Burgess asks Ruzek if he has any plans, but he says he is tired. Later, we realize he was lying as he goes for drinks at the bar. It also turns out that Ruzek has something going on with the bartender.
As Ruzek leaves to get some air, he witnesses a girl getting kidnapped. He takes a civilian car, but since he is drunk, he crashes the car and is unable to save the kidnapped girl. This leads to an uncomfortable situation as Ruzek and Burgess later interrogate the bartender who is upset that he didn't tell her he was a cop. It also leads to some tension between Burgess and the bartender. Ruzek even ended up being the star performer when he helped calm the kidnapper to save the girl.
The episode ended with Ruzek opening up to Burgess over the grief he is going through and they end up going for dinner together.
For fans, the tension was palpable as many expressed their disappointment over Ruzek spending time with a woman who wasn't Burgess. One viewer tweeted, "Burgess jealous. Ruzek 'hung up on his ex.' I'll take all the crumbs I can get at the moment! #Burzek."
Another wrote, "Girl calm down! Don’t be mad cuz Ruzek won’t go home with you."
Some fans were pleased that Burgess finally showed her jealous streak after seeing Ruzek with another woman. One fan wrote, "First the bartender talking about sleeping with Ruzek, now the woman asking if she has kids... Burgess is really getting hit this episode and it's just started!"
A fan tweeted, "Okay y’all look how sad burgess is looking like my girl is in love with Ruzek too so."
Fans were happy that the episode focused on Ruzek. One fan wrote, "Omg so much Ruzek in this episode of @NBCChicagoPD makes me very happy!" Another tweeted, "I am loving the fact that Ruzek is taking the lead on this case tonight. Ever since Say Her Real Name in Season 2, I always enjoy episodes in which Ruzek is in the center of a case."
A viewer opined, "so like let’s talk ab how good of a person and cop Adam Ruzek for a moment..."
'Chicago PD' airs on Wednesday nights at 10/9c on NBC. The final episode of the current shortened season will air next week on April 15.
