‘Chicago PD’ Season 8 Episode 11 Recap

The eleventh episode of Season 8, titled ‘Signs of Violence’, was undoubtedly one of the best episodes in recent times. The episode saw Detective Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) investigating a case that took her back to the time when she faced a lot of traumatic situations.

Upton is in the car and responds to a missing person’s report. She arrives there and speaks to Banks, a CPD officer who tells her that a neighbor, Jessica, called it in and revealed that she has not seen her neighbors in a few days. Upton goes in the house, it looks bare and it has been breached recently. Upton pulls down the sheets on the bed, there is a huge stain and it seems like blood underneath.

Halstead and Upton go to speak to Jessica to get as much info as possible. Jessica’s daughter Annie finally tells Upton the truth about the family living near their house. Annie also reveals that she saw a mysterious man walking through the Cardon house and putting them in a car. Upton finds out that the car is actually a station wagon and the plates are stolen.
We then get a glimpse of the trauma she suffered as a child, which all in all, makes this an episode you might need some tissues for.

The episode ends with Upton asking Voight (Jason Beghe) if she is unfit to be a cop. However, Voight says that if she is unfit, then he is unfit too. Upton arrives home and Halstead is there, she tells him that she never learned how relationships work. Her parents would just say 'I love you' and 'I am sorry' after they hurt her. She tells him that she loves him and he hugs her.
