Before 'Chicago PD' went for its winter break for Season 7, we learned that Kim Burgess is pregnant. And much to the delight of "Burzek" shippers, the father is indeed Adam Ruzek.

However, that did not mean that Burgess and Ruzek are back together and things between the two are tense. While Ruzek doesn't seem as eager as fans may have hoped, Burgess is evidently worried about how being pregnant would affect her job. Burgess did, however, decide to keep the baby.

In this week's episode of 'Chicago PD', it initially looks like Burgess and Ruzek might work through it after all as they go for the doctor's appointment together. Burgess also tells the news to Kevin Atwater, who is close to both of them.

Burgess is, however, reluctant to tell Hank Voight, the head of the Intelligence Unit, because that would mean he would assign her to desk duty and she will have to sit out of the action. But this is what Ruzek wants.

Later, when Burgess corners a suspect who has a gun, she radios him and tells him that she has the situation under control. However, Ruzek shows up nevertheless, upsetting the suspect and when the latter reacts, Ruzek shoots him dead.

This angers Burgess who tells Ruzek that she will be going forward with the pregnancy on her terms as the two are not together. Ruzek tells her that the baby is his too and that he has every right to make sure Burgess is safe.

After the case is wrapped up, Sergeant Trudy Platt gives Burgess a cup that says "Mom Cop" and Burgess asks her for advice. Trudy tells her to follow her gut and we see Burgess walk towards Voight's office, presumably to tell him.

When she goes home later that night, Ruzek is waiting for her and tells her he wants to talk. He then tells her that he wants to get married and that he is a changed man. Burgess tells him that getting married would be a bad idea, but promises to do everything regarding the pregnancy together from now on.

While it may not be the ending "Burzek" fans had been hoping for, it looks like it could head that way as Burgess and Ruzek embraced as the episode ended.

'Chicago PD' airs on NBC on Wednesday nights.
