When will 'Chicago P.D.' Season 7 Fall Finale air? Here's when we get to see if Halstead survives the events of Episode 9
Viewers have always known that Detective Jay Halstead from NBC's 'Chicago P.D.' has had a higher moral code than the rest of his colleagues in the Intelligence Unit, especially his boss, Hank Voight -- which even led to some tensions between them.
Which is why, earlier in this season, Halstead's brutal actions throwing a man in county jail to force him to confess after roughing him up in order to do the same disappointed fans. However, what was even more upsetting was the revelation that the man, Marcus West, was really innocent as he kept insisting -- the facial recognition software Intelligence used was flawed. However, the man ended up dying after being beaten up in lockup.
Halstead is left feeling guilty, even though Voight tries to talk him out of it. It is worse because the police department decides to frame Marcus despite his innocence, in order to save their face. Voight goes along with it because he knows Halstead is a good cop -- and this has always been Voight's way.
But Halstead is different and in order to alleviate his guilt, he begins helping out Marcus's former girlfriend, Angela, and their child. Halstead does not tell Angela who he is, instead, telling her that his name is Jim.
However, when Angela gets kidnapped by Latin players, she calls him for help. Unfortunately, Halstead gets kidnapped too. The Latin players think that Angela and Halstead (mistaking him to be another man) stole their drugs and are trying to get the two to divulge where the drugs are.
Earlier, Halstead's partner, Hailey Upton had followed him and knew he was helping out Angela, and warned him against her finding out who he really is and the truth about Marcus. When Halstead goes missing, she comes clean to Voight as the Intelligence Unit tries to race against time in order to save Halstead.
Voight ropes in Darius Walker -- the mob boss -- to help them locate Halstead. Kevin Atwater gets confirmation that Halstead is alive and at this point, Angela still does not know that Halstead is a cop.
When Angela tells Halstead about every misfortune since finding out Marcus killed the two boys, Halstead finally confesses to her that he is the cop who arrested Marcus and that Marcus did not kill the two boys. Though Angela is angry at him and almost reveals that he is a cop to the kidnappers, she refrains.
Meanwhile, Upton is determined to rescue Halstead, and she and Voight tag team to finally find the location that Halstead is in. Halstead by then has managed to free himself and take down the two kidnappers. But when Halstead goes to get Angela, she shoots him and the episode ends there.
What will happen to Halstead? Will Upton reach him in time? Find out when 'Chicago P.D.' returns with new episodes to NBC on January 8th, 2020.
