'Chicago P.D.' Season 7 Episode 8: Kim Burgess goes above and beyond to crack a case reminiscent of Brie Larson's 'Room'

For most viewers, the case might seem familiar. It is highly reminiscent of 'Room', the movie for which Captain Marvel herself, Brie Larson, took home the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2016.

It felt like this week's case on 'Chicago P.D.' had a twist every five minutes. First, while chasing a suspect for an unrelated case, Kim Burgess finds the body of a woman that has been dumped. Then, it turns out that a hair on the woman's body belonged to another missing woman who may still be alive and Burgess suggests that the same man kidnapped both of them.

This then turns into a race against time as the Intelligence Unit tries to save the other woman before she ends up as another homicide case.

Both women were abducted many years ago when they were just teenagers. Though they initially had a different suspect, the Intelligence Unit figures out who the real kidnapper is and manages to find the second woman.

When Burgess finds her, the woman asks Burgess about her son, Henry. From the age of the boy, the team deduces that the boy's father is the kidnapper. The woman tells Burgess that the man cares about the boy and that is why he killed the other woman.

Burgess also finds out that the boy is diabetic and that he will need his insulin shot soon so that he does not go into shock. From there, Burgess and Ruzek go looking for the boy. They find him in a trailer and Burgess quickly administers insulin, stabilizing the boy.

For most viewers, the case might seem familiar. It is highly reminiscent of 'Room', the movie for which Captain Marvel herself, Brie Larson, took home the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2016. Based on a novel of the same name by Emma Donoghue, the movie featured a mother and son trapped. Brie Larson played the mother, who was kidnapped and forced to have her son when she was raped by the kidnapper.

'Chicago P.D.' airs on NBC on Wednesday nights. The midseason finale of Season 7 of 'Chicago P.D.' will air next Wednesday, on November 20th.
