'Chicago Med' Season 6: When will Episode 7 air? Ethan Choi's actions may force Will Halstead to leave hospital
It appears that Ethan Choi's (Brian Tee) appointment as the head of the Emergency Department (ED) on NBC's 'Chicago Med' is still riling people up. Ethan in his new role has already caused one doctor to leave, and now, another central doctor may leave as well. What we need to see is if Ethan will continue to stress himself to do the "perfect" job or if he will be a bit more laidback in the future.
Things on 'Chicago Med' have been different recently, and with Ethan heading the ED, we have not seen much of him that we like. But this week's episode reminds us why he is such a good doctor and why he was picked for the role. We just hope that he is not pigeonholed into this "perfection" thing we have been seeing. The danger of losing Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) may force him to change his ways, but how did we get there?

When Ethan was appointed the head of the ED, Will was none too pleased -- after all, he felt he deserved the job because he had been at the ED longer. But, he was told he was not even considered due to his recent relationship and his tendency to be impulsive. This caused Will to chart a new path, and lead a clinical trial at the hospital, which seems to be going well so far -- last week, he even got Ethan's ex, April Sexton (Yaya DaCosta) to help him out.
April is seeing one thing that Ethan himself is not -- that he is driving the staff to their limit. We are seeing Ethan being hard on everyone in the ED, stretching them to their limits, and strive for perfection himself. That led him to fire April's brother, Noah Sexton, a doctor at the hospital, for letting a suicidal patient have access to a needle, which he used to kill himself. Noah had his reasons – he did not believe that the patient should be sent to the police, especially after he lost his wife, and Noah did not seem like he regretted doing so.
In the most recent episode, Ethan forbids Will from leaving the ED to do a presentation as they have their schedules full that day. Will, nevertheless, sees all his patients and is able to do the presentation successfully. Ethan gets upset about this -- because Will disobeyed him -- and tells Will off. Will is ready this time and tells Ethan that the trial is sanctioned by the hospital and that Ethan can take it up with the higher-ups. Meanwhile, Will's trial partner, Sabeena Virani (Tehmina Sunny) tells him that he could apply for an opening at the pharmaceutical company whose drugs they are testing. While he first brushes it off, Ethan's attitude makes him reconsider, and he tells Sabeena to go ahead with helping him get a foot in the door.
Meanwhile, a new relationship is brewing in the ED with Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto) and Crockett Marcel (Dominic Rains) knocking boots. However, Natalie brushed Crockett off and went to apologize, only to see him with his ex-wife. We are now also well aware that Crockett lost his toddler to leukemia years ago. Natalie is worried that he will get back with his ex, but he assures her that he is not.
When a patient from an accident comes in, they discover that she has cancer. The patient refuses surgery because she saw her mother go through a lot of pain -- something Natalie and Crockett disagree with. While Natalie opts to go behind the patient's back to try to argue that the patient is suicidal and force her to do the surgery, Crockett gets personal and relays the story of his daughter to the patient, who finally accepts the doctor's recommendation.
Finally, Maggie Campbell (Marlyne Barrett) who married fellow cancer survivor Ben Lockwood, fostered a child, Auggie, who ended up becoming really sick and being admitted to the hospital. Auggie gets quite sick, and Maggie speeds up her process to adopt him.
When will Episode 7 air?
'Chicago Med' Season 6 Episode 7, titled 'Better Is The New Enemy Of Good' will air on Wednesday, February 17.
What to expect in Episode 7?
The synopsis for 'Chicago Med' Season 6 Episode 7 states: "Will runs into trouble when one of his trial patients falls ill. His own stress and symptoms have Ethan struggling to get through the day."
We know that Ethan has often been working for the night because of how busy he has become in taking over charge of the ED. What Ethan needs to do is rely on his colleagues more rather than just order them around. Not only will that reduce the tension for everyone, but also make him better at his job and help him relax. Perhaps what comes next could force Ethan to reconsider his style of managing the ED.
Either way, if Will does decide to leave the hospital, it could be a gamechanger for Ethan and the show. However, if one of Will's patients from the clinical trial falls ill, it could kill Will's chances of the job at the pharmaceutical company before anything else.
The careers of both these doctors are on the line, but will they make the right decision?
