'Chicago Med' Season 5: How far will Phillip go to get back together with Natalie after their breakup?

In this week's episode, Natalie trusted her instincts and finally broke off her engagement with Phillip and Will revealed that the engagement was, in fact, faked by Phillip

It was a pretty big episode for Dr. Natalie Manning this week as she faced the possibility of being charged with assault after she forcefully administered antibiotics to a child whose parents had not consented. But, somehow, Natalie got away with her clearly questionable actions.

Throughout the episode, she was supported by Maggie and Sharon, with the former saying that she trusts Natalie's instincts as well — it did not matter that her instincts did not excuse her behavior towards the patient or the parents.

At the end of the episode, when her instincts proved right, Natalie believes she has to trust her instincts with respect to her personal life as well, which was a long time coming.

She finally broke it off with Will, who just found out from Crockett Marcel that Phillip slipped the engagement ring onto Natalie's finger when she was unconscious.

Will tells this to Natalie in front of Phillip, and Natalie has had enough of the men in her life, without a doubt. But even though they are broken up, this may not be the last we see of the character.

Ian Harding, who plays Phillip, is slated to appear for at least one more episode — the episode that will air next week.

Phillip seems to have gotten quite close to Natalie's son in the short time that they were together. If Phillip was unsavory enough to fake an engagement, there's no telling what he will do since Natalie has broken up with him in, what he might think is, an embarrassing way.

Phillip has always been shown to be quite antagonistic to Will — most likely because of Will's and Natalie's past — and he would not have liked the way Will came barging into the middle of their conversation to reveal the truth about him.

Whether the next episode will be Phillip's final appearance or not, he is sure to make some trouble in it.

'Chicago Med' airs on NBC on Wednesday nights.
