The 'Chicago Med' fall finale for season 5 left fans with some heartbreaking moments. First, though Natalie Manning's memories come back and she rushes to Will Halstead to apologize for how she had been treating him, and to tell him that she loves him, Will tells her that he has moved on after realizing they were not good for each other.

Elsewhere in the episode, April Sexton finds out that it is her problems leading to her not being able to get pregnant with her boyfriend, Ethan Choi's baby. Knowing Ethan badly wants children, she acts out, and does not tell him the real reason, instead she tells him that she may not want children.

As the episode ends, the two leave things in a bad way as Ethan is set to leave for deployment. Worse, April -- who has been sharing some sparks with Dr. Crockett Marcel -- shares a kiss with Marcel and it looks like she may even spend the night with him.

Fans were understandably left devastated with the episode. Though many fans applauded Will for finally moving on, Manstead fans were disappointed. One fan tweeted, "Yeah after the way she has treated him when he was always there for her good for Will for finally standing up for himself and realizing he deserves better #chicagomed." However, another fan wrote, "That means Natalie will fight for Will from head to toe, regardless. This shows she does love him. @NBCChicagoMed #ChicagoMed #manstead."

Hardcore Chexton fans are angry at the writers for the ending of the fall finale. One fan tweeted, "Ugh. #ChicagoMed. Why are you doing this to April and Ethan? They worked so hard to get back together. Worst. Decision. Ever." However, some fans are conflicted because of the dynamics between April and Marcel. A fan wrote, "#ChicagoMed most likely messed up April and Ethan’s relationship but the chemistry between April and Marcel is amazing."

One thing remains common though -- fans are tired of the show's writers introducing problems into relationships that were working well and bringing on endless drama between the characters. A viewer wrote, "Watching the same characters make the same mistakes and having new characters get between couples is not entertaining, especially when they're treating their partners like shit #ChicagoMed," while another fan added, "Natalie and April staying wanting their exes when they moved on and are happy. Why is this the only storylines we keep repeating since s2. #ChicagoMed."

'Chicago Med' will return for new episodes for Season 5 on January 8th, 2020.
