'Chicago Med' Season 5 Episode 8 will see Dr. Choi fighting to treat a social media influencer against his fans' wishes
With just two episodes to go for winter break, 'Chicago Med' will air the eighth episode of its fifth season this Wednesday. At the heart of this week's episode is Dr. Choi's battle with a patient that would rather honor his online followers' wishes than do what is best for his health.
In the promo for the episode, a patient named Dennis comes in. He is live streaming the entire experience and his doctor, Dr. Choi is introduced to his followers. When the time comes for Dennis to choose whether to go for surgery or not, he lets his fans choose. With an overwhelming 85%, the fans decide that Dennis should not get surgery.
It looks like Dennis will be honoring his followers' wishes, leading Dr. Choi to rope in Dr. Charles for a consult as the former doesn't just want to watch his patient die. Viewers can expect Dr. Charles to talk to his patient and will be forced to make a decision about Dennis.
Last week, during her chemotherapy session, Maggie has a meet-cute with a fellow cancer patient named Ben and the two hit it off. So much so that Maggie ends up spending the day with him and even telling April about the new man in her life. This week, she will be getting some unsettling news about Ben and will break protocol to support him. Considering Ben is a cancer patient, we hope Maggie is able to give him the help he needs.
Meanwhile, according to the synopsis, one of the doctors from the Med family will be rushed into emergency surgery after a violent assault. Though we have no clues about who that could be, our money is on the doctor being Crockett Marcel. We don't know much about the doctor's personal life yet -- except that he has feelings for April -- and we may find out more in this episode.
'Chicago Med' airs on NBC on Wednesday nights.
