Spoilers for 'Chicago Med' Season 5 Episode 17 'The Ghosts of The Past'

This week's episode of 'Chicago Med' marked the historic 100th episode of the medical drama, the third of the 'Chicago' franchise which spun off from 'Chicago Fire' and 'Chicago PD'. The writers have kept the stakes high as one 'Chicago Med's' own go through turmoils — physical and emotional.

Nurse April Sexton (Yaya DaCosta) goes to work like any other normal day, but soon, she is seen clutching her stomach in pain and collapses leading to her being rushed to be treated. Dr Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) is her ER doctor, but since her problems stem from her fertility treatments, she is being treated by Dr Hannah Asher (Jessy Schram).

Hannah is back after her stint in rehab. Since she refused to go on her own, Will had to report her, leading to her addiction being news around the hospital. As such, trust in Hannah is low, but Will knows she is a good doctor and sticks with her as many express their doubts, including Dr Ethan Choi (Brian Tee).

Hannah is able to successfully treat April who doubled her hormone dosage after the previous rounds of fertility treatment did not work. She ends up confessing to Ethan about her kiss with Dr Crockett Marcel (Dominic Rains). Ethan is angry, especially with Crockett, with whom he was building a friendship.

Elsewhere in the hospital, Dr Daniel Charles' (Oliver Platt) daughter comes to him following getting suspended from school for vaping. His former wife and daughter moved to Milwaukee and he had not been able to spend time with her, something that leads to his daughter telling him so. Daniel understands that she is right, but could this mean that Daniel Charles could be the next doctor to leave the hospital and therefore the show?

Meanwhile, Dr Natalie Manning (Torey DeVitto) deals with a case that might be of Munchausen by proxy syndrome. However, as one of the hospital's doctors, a pediatrician insists on calling Child Protective Services (CPS) to take away the child. After Daniel's analysis, it is determined that the mother has a case of PTSD and disagrees, leading to the pediatrician to storm out after declaring that the child will be back with injuries.

Nurse Maggie Lockwood's wedding is something she and the viewers needed for a turn of happy events for a change. She gets married in a bowling alley finally, with her colleagues present in what looked like the best idea for a marriage party. Everyone starts bowling once the ceremony is over.

In its entirety, this week's episode was easily one of the best. We got to see everyone who works in the hospital with some excellent cases. Natalie may have got on some viewers' nerves, but it is nice to see her instincts come true.

Will and Hannah end up going for the wedding together. While many may not have initially liked the pairing, the viewers could warm up. However, will Jessy Schram be upped to series regular or will this relationship crash and burn?

The most disconcerting thing is Daniel realizing that he needs to be with his daughter more. Though it was not confirmed in the episode, he may end up moving to Milwaukee now that his wife, CeCe Charles, had succumbed to cancer.

Daniel has been an important part of the show since the first season and a 'Chicago Med' without him would be weird to watch. Moreover, Oliver Platt is a talent that adds a lot to this cast, especially balance.

'Chicago Med' airs on Wednesday nights at 8/7c on NBC.
