Remember the unofficial second job Dr Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) took on a few weeks ago at an unsanctioned safe injection site? He did so when his proposal for the same at the hospital was rejected.

The safe injection site proposal itself came about because Will lost a patient before that to a drug overdose. The said patient had gotten addicted to drugs after he prescribed her pain meds a few years ago. In the first week, we saw him work at the unsanctioned safe injection site, Will got overwhelmed. Yes, he saved people but pulling double the hours at both the site and the hospital was taking a toll on him.

Will was ready to quit and told his friend he was going to do so. However, one of the patients he saved earlier -- a woman -- came back to thank him for saving her life after she overdosed.

But here's where the surprise comes. The said patient also happens to be the new gynecology consult at Will's hospital. Will meets Dr Hannah Asher (Jessy Schram) when she consults for a patient of his who has a fibroid. Both Will and Hannah clash on the course of treatment. Hannah suggests a risky surgery while Will wants the patient to go for the non-surgical hormone therapy to shrink the fibroid which would require her to take birth control pills temporarily.

However, the patient wants to have children -- she just got married, though she says she does not have time as she is 41 years old. So the patient chooses surgery. Will and Hannah argue over this, with Will making it clear that he does not trust her to do a good job. He is concerned about whether she might still be using.

He is worried and Will being Will asks another doctor to check in on the patient's surgery repeatedly -- despite Hannah telling him that she is sober now and that the patient is in good hands with her. While the surgery goes well, Will is still concerned about Hannah. He threatens to go to the board about her, but she threatens him back, saying she will out his work at the "not quite legal" safe injection site.

Things may have started out quite wobbly between the two, but with Will officially giving up on Natalie Manning -- and with the potential of Natalie and Crocket Marcel sharing a few moments -- could he be finding love in someone new?

'Chicago Med' airs on NBC on Wednesday nights.
