Fans can't wait for 'Chicago Fire', 'Chicago P.D.', and 'Chicago Med' to come back after those intense fall finales

With cliffhangers from both 'Chicago Fire' and 'Chicago P.D.', and the end of a major relationship for good on 'Chicago Med', fans are not happy about the six-week wait for new episodes.

We have had our final episodes from the 'Chicago' franchise for the year, with 'Chicago Fire' and 'Chicago P.D.' ending on intense cliffhangers, while 'Chicago Med' potentially ended a major relationship for good.

On 'Chicago Fire', Lt. Kelly Severide's stint at the Office of Fire Investigations (OFI) saw him pursue an arson case, acquitting a wrongly convicted arsonist. However, in the final moments of the ninth episode of Season 8 of 'Chicago Fire', the real culprit confronts Severide with a flare in a highly explosive room, which -- as the promo for the first episode after the winter break shows -- results in a major fire.

On 'Chicago Med', Natalie Manning's memories come back and though she rushed to Will Halstead to apologize for her treatment of him and tell him that she loves him, Will says he has moved on and said they were not good for each other, seemingly ending the Manstead relationship for good.

The most shocking cliffhanger belonged to 'Chicago P.D.' where Detective Jay Halstead was shot in the final moments of the Season 7 fall finale episode which will see him battle for his life in the episode that comes back in January.

Fans are, of course, not okay. After those fierce fall finales, one fan tweeted, "Somebody tell Dick Wolf he ain’t have to do us like that tonight! Got me on edge & now I gotta wait till January. DAMMIT!!! #OneChicago #ChicagoMed #ChicagoFire #ChicagoPD."

While fans loved the 'Chicago Fire' and 'Chicago P.D.' episodes, 'Chicago Med' received fewer rave reviews. A viewer wrote, "@NBCChicagoMed Come on, step it up!!! Ridiculous!!! #ChicagoMed. @NBCChicagoFire Okay, Okay!! But also, seriously??!! #ChicagoFIRE. @NBCChicagoPD Excellent!!!! Once again, leading the pack!!! Showing them all how it’s done!"

Fans are now looking to cool down after those episodes through the holiday season as they wait for new episodes of all three shows which will return in January 2020. One fan tweeted, "Now that we are without #OneChicago until January 8th, I'm realizing we've been spoiled with so many new eps in a row. Guess we"ll have to bury our feelings about tonight's cliffhangers in the neverending Hallmark Christmas movies for the next 6 Wednesdays?"

'Chicago Med', 'Chicago Fire', and 'Chicago P.D.' will return to NBC with new episodes every Wednesday night from January 8th, 2020.
