Who is Anthony Perry? 'Hero' braved SHOCKS to rescue brawl victim from electrified tracks
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: A 20-year-old man earned the gratitude of his community after he heroically saved a man who fell onto the electrified rail tracks. He quickly jumped into action as he saw the victim being electrocuted on the third rail of the tracks. The brave young man was later rewarded for his heroism by the local community on Wednesday, June 7, with a brand new car. The 2009 Audi A8 was gifted by Early Walker, who is the founder of the anti-violence organization 'I'm Talking, Don't Shoot'. Identified as Anthony Perry, the 20-year-old commuter, whose fast actions saved a life, risked being electrocuted himself in the incident, which could have turned ugly. The events occurred at 3:30 pm on Sunday, June at the 69th Streed Red Line CTA Station in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood in Chicago.
The victim, as explained by onlookers, fell on the rails after getting into a fight. He swung a punch, missed, and lost balance, resulting in his fall. Anthony, during a conversation with WGN TV, said, "I don’t think I was thinking about what could happen to me at the moment. It was more of what do I have to do to make the situation peaceful." The Chicago man continued, “I felt a little shock. I felt it all over my body actually, and then I just didn’t let that stop me.” Walker, who was over the moon by the actions of this 20-year-old man said, "We wanted to literally show our appreciation because we need more people like you. We need more Anthonys in the world."

Anthony did not only just drag the victim but administered CPR on the victim who eventually regained consciousness. He was then brought to the hospital and is expected to live. The video uploaded by a Facebook user called Tavi Ghee explained that the victim initiated the fight. He further attached another video in the comments section where Anthony Perry can be seen checking up on the victim. The people have called him a hero, for all the right reasons, as he risked his own life to save another. After getting a car and a $25 gasoline card, Anthony revealed that it will make "things way easier" for him as he was taking two buses and a train to get from his home in the South Side neighborhood of Park Manor to his job in suburban Oak Lawn with Amazon Fresh.
Who is Anthony Perry?
There's not much information about Perry apart from where he works. Police are still investigating the matter. Meanwhile, Perry got to hear some kind words from District Commander Roderick Watson as well. He said, "This is what we need more of. Police can’t be everywhere at all times. This is a perfect example of what we need out here to help support our efforts. Now, we have a citizen who actually took charge, jumped in and should be recognized. … Maybe later on what we can do is pull him to the side and recruit him." Earl Walker even took to his Facebook account to share the video of Anthony Perry receiving his gift for helping the community.
Perry is said to be a graduate of Harold L. Richards High School in Oak Lawn and is said to be a defensive back for the school's Bulldogs football team. According to Max Preps page, he was considered to be in the Top 50 players of the state.
