'Chicago Fire' Season 9: When will Episode 7 air? Casey and Severide team up to solve an arson case
On NBC's 'Chicago Fire', Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) and Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer) have a comfortable friendship — the pair head the two squads at Firehouse 51, they respect one another and they live together. That camaraderie has been extended in recent times, given that both Severide and Casey are not exactly doing the best they can when it comes to the respective women in their lives.
Severide is known for his knack for solving arson cases. In the previous season, he even spent a brief stint at the Office of Fire Investigations before returning to Firehouse 51. He and Casey have worked together numerous times, and even when their scenes together are small, the actors vibe well with each other.

What happened previously?
Let's start with Severide because his troubles with Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) are now (hopefully) a thing of the past. With Kidd preparing to write the lieutenant's exam, Severide has been MIA from her side, despite promising her all the help she needs. This happened when an off-handed remark by another firefighter made Severide think that if he is by her side, her success would be credited to him.
Severide's absence from her side is clearly detrimental to Kidd's confidence, and she wonders whether she should pass up the opportunity. When Severide finds out, he finally reveals why he has been staying away. Of course, Kidd sets him straight, reminding him that she is a woman of color who had to endure worse circumstances for her to get to where she is.
The scene looked like it may have been the end for them, but Severide says that it is Kidd's attitude that makes him want to never let her go. Kidd reminds him that they will both be in the same ranks soon and that it is her decision to not let him go.
Things do not look as good for Casey and Sylvie Brett (Kara Killmer). Brett asked for space from Casey after she put an end to their fizzling romance by bringing in the hypothetical question of his ex's return. Brett also asked Casey not to wait around for her, which is exactly what he did. Casey spent the night with a woman he rescued in a previous episode, and when Brett finds out, she is hurt that he was able to move on quickly.
Meanwhile, Brett cemented her trust in her new paramedic partner, Gianna Mackey (Adriyan Rae), when the latter was suspected of switching out their supply of fentanyl with saline solution. Brett never suspected Mackey and the two women work together to uncover the real culprits. Mackey also ended up sleeping with Blake Gallo (Alberto Rosende) in the episode.
When will Episode 7 air?
'Chicago Fire' Season 9 Episode 7 titled 'Dead of Winter' will air on Wednesday, February 17.
What to expect in Episode 7?
The synopsis for 'Chicago Fire' Season 9 Episode 7 states, "A fire at a homeless encampment leaves Severide and Casey searching for answers. Cruz is shaken up after a close call. Ritter lends a helping hand to a victim."
It has been some time since we saw Severide and Casey working together on a case. The last one we can remember is when the two firefighters wanted to solve the mystery of the false alarms pulled at a school. Perhaps when they work together, Severide can set Casey straight when it comes to his will-they-won't-they circumstances with Brett.
Joe Cruz (Joe Minoso) just had a close call in a recent episode when he was trapped in a freight elevator with Christopher Hermann (David Eigenberg), so we are worried that he has to go through one again so soon. This is especially because we learned recently that his wife, Chloe, is pregnant. Perhaps, this episode could see him reveal that to his teammates.
It has also been some time since we saw the episode focusing on Darren Ritter (Daniel Kyri), who we no doubt see being the captain of the house one day. Ritter, unlike Gallo, seems to be more levelheaded and calm and we cannot wait to see how his story will unfold on the show.
