The final episode of Season 8 is finally here, Chihards. Once it is over, we will be waiting for the new episodes and with the pandemic raging on, this wait could get longer than we expect.

For now, however, we have that one episode and while it wasn't written as a season finale, it may well be good enough to handle that role. In this week's episode of 'Chicago Fire' — Season 8's 20th episode — when those of Firehouse 51 are called to an emergency, one of their own gets injured.

A massive gas leak, what looks like chlorine, results in an explosion and someone is injured. Lt Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) takes it upon himself to figure out what's going on and to help out his injured colleague. We are not sure yet if the season that began with a death (Otis's) won't end with death as well.

Meanwhile, Emily Foster will be seen dealing with a big decision. In an earlier episode, we saw paramedic Foster (Annie Ilonzeh) save someone's life using an emergency procedure that is normally done by surgeons in the OR. Could Emily's decision revolve around that? Emily was formerly a medical student. So perhaps she could be considering going back to medical school. How will that go with her fellow paramedic Sylvie Brett (Kara Kilmer), who is now dealing with her birth mother's death?

Remember firefighter Stella Kidd's (Miranda Rae Mayo) program for young girls from Chicago public schools to inspire them to sign up to be firefighters? In this week's episode, Kidd's "Girls on Fire" program will be realized and we could be seeing her train young girls on how to be a firefighter and motivate them to become firefighters like her. Unfortunately, it seems like one of her trainees might be in trouble and Kidd becomes concerned for her.

The Season 8 finale might not end with a cliffhanger as other seasons, but this season would still feel quite incomplete. Hopefully, the next season makes up for it and knowing that all three 'Chicago' shows were already renewed for three additional seasons each makes the wait a little easier.

The Season 8 finale for 'Chicago Fire' will air on NBC at 9/8c.
