In last week's episode of 'Chicago Fire', fans got some special moments between Captain Matthew Casey and paramedic Sylvie Brett. The two checked upon an old man they had rescued earlier.

The man lost his wife in the fire, but Casey and Brett were determined to find his cat. During his wife's funeral, Casey and Brett showed up with all of Firehouse 51 and then some to reassure the old man that he won't be alone.

Of course, one of the moments of bonding between Brett and Casey was when the former revealed that her birth mother had requested to meet her. When Casey told her that Brett was the one person he knew who could handle difficult situations, she tells him that she does not want to meet her birth mother.

But it looks like that will not be the end of the story. Brett's birth mother continues to persist in her aim to meet Brett and this leaves the paramedic conflicted. Will Brett seek out Casey's advice again or will she decide to put an end to it?

Meanwhile, a series of mysterious gas leaks lead to the firefighters being spread thin across multiple emergency sites. In the promo we see the firefighters responding to a gas leak and taking utmost caution — the smallest spark will be enough to set the whole place ablaze and put the firefighters in danger.

Fans can also expect to see some Kelly Severide-Joe Cruz moments. Earlier in the season, we saw Cruz asking Severide to be his best man, but it looks like the latter is not clear on his duties in the role.

Finally, the synopsis says that Mouch bites off more than he can chew. We just hope it won't involve a tiff with Christopher Herrmann.

'Chicago Fire' airs on NBC on Wednesday nights at 9/8c.
