In the first half of Season 8 of 'Chicago Fire', we see Lt. Kelly Severide — played by Taylor Kinney — move to the Office of Fire Investigations (OFI) to help them clear the backlog of fire investigation cases, following in his late father's footsteps.

Though his colleagues at Firehouse 51 and viewers were disappointed that he was leaving 51, no one could deny that Severide was quite good at his new job — not only did he help clear the backlog, he was also helping clear those who were wrongly convicted for the arson crimes.

Of course, in the fall finale of the season, we saw Severide confronting the real arsonist of the case he was investigating. Unfortunately, the man has a flare stick that he dangles in front of him. In the promo that was shown for the next episode, we see that this leads to a huge fire.

The first question that viewers will have is whether Severide will survive. Severide is one of the MVPs for the show — much like Jay Halstead is for 'Chicago PD' — and with one major casualty this season already, it is unlikely he will die.

Once he survives, the question is whether Severide will return to Firehouse 51. Sure, he's doing a pretty good job but we are missing this firefighter fighting actual fires and back with our favorite firefighters of Chicago.

Elsewhere in the episode, we will see Sylvie Brett and Emily Foster — the two paramedics — go head to head in their clash over Brett's leadership style and Foster's arrogance. We hope Brett and Foster make up — as two out of only three women at the firehouse, we certainly need them to put up a united front.

We may also see a potential romance for the newest member of Firehouse 51, firefighter candidate Blake Gallo. Gallo is fitting in quite well at 51 and let's hope that Alberto Rosende gets upgraded to series regular soon.

'Chicago Fire' airs on NBC on Wednesday nights.
