ZURICH, SWITZERLAND: The 'Goddess of Pop' Cher recently revealed that she spent quality time with her old friend, the 'Queen of Rock n Roll' Tina Turner, at her home before her death this week. The 'Believe' singer, 77, stated she was blessed with the opportunity to enjoy a while with the legendary singer before she died on Wednesday, May 24 at the age of 83 following a "long illness" as confirmed by her publicist Bernard Doherty.

The rock and roll icon's death shocked the globe, but her fans were aware of her long-term health challenges, which forced her to take a step back in her career. She once stated that she had put herself at grave risk by refusing to accept the reality that she needed daily, lifetime pharmaceutical therapy. "For far too long, I believed that my body was an untouchable and indestructible bastion," the singer admitted. The great artist, according to her old friend Cher, had a fantastic time before death approached her.

Cher visited Turner before her death

After Turner left this world, Cher spoke to MSNBC about her visit with her old friend at her residence in Zurich, Switzerland, and claimed that the late singer "was really happy" despite being "really sick."

What did Turner tell Cher?

Cher spoke about spending time with the late Turner prior to her death, adding, "I know everyone is very sad, but the truth is... she fought this sickness for such a long time and she was so strong as you think she would be. But I know towards the end, she told me once, she said, 'I'm really ready. I just don’t want to put up with this anymore'." "I started going to visit her because I thought, 'I need to put this time into our friendship, so she knows we haven't forgotten her'," the 77-year-old added.

What did Cher say about Turner?

"So we all took turns going and spending time with her and it made her happy." "[Turner] said, 'I can't spend too much time,' " Cher went on. "Then five hours later we were laughing like crazy…She was having a good time in spite of the fact that she was really sick and not wanting people to know about it." Cher stated on Wednesday that Turner "had her dialysis machine in her house" during their meeting, but she remained "so strong" and "fought this sickness for such a long time." "But I know, towards the end, she told me once, she said, 'I'm really ready. I just don't want to put up with this anymore'," the singer revealed about Turner.

How did Cher and Turner become friends?

Turner reportedly toured with Cher multiple times in the 1970s. The power duo met while Turner remained married to her abusive first husband, Ike, and Cher remembers Turner being "so free" when she finally divorced the music producer in 1978, after which they "really got so close" as friends. "I was so thrilled. You could just see her being able to take a big breath. Her new life was like a big, fresh breath," Cher stated.

'She fought every war'

The singer said that the late superstar gave her a pair of shoes as a present before she left her home. "She was such a force. Honestly, I think she just hit everything head-on," she mentioned in her heartwarming tribute statement. "She wasn't about to stop. She might not have won every battle, but she fought every war. She was there fighting for all the things she believed in." "She gave me lots of strength sometimes, and I gave her lots of strength too," Cher added.
