'Charmed' season 2: Five villains from the original show we would like to see in the reboot

Though the 'Charmed' reboot featured many original villains, the second season would benefit to feature some villains from the OG show. Here are some of them we'd like to see
PUBLISHED SEP 20, 2019

The new 'Charmed' has, for the most part, forged its own way when it comes to the villains on the show. One exception to that is Parker, Maggie's boyfriend, who is half-human and half-demon and his father wanting him to absorb the powers of the Source of All Evil. Parker and his demon side is clearly a reincarnation of Cole and Belthazar. Cole's romance with Phoebe, his fight with his own dark side provided enough fodder for many episodes on the original 'Charmed'. Part of the reason the new 'Charmed' has so many new villains, could be because the writers are dipping into the characters' Latin American and West African origins and borrowing from their mythologies.

But as we said before, the reboot needs to build a connection with the original 'Charmed' if it intends to go on for as long as the OG show. One of the ways to do that is to bring back the Halliwell witches but if that's not possible, the writers ought to consider bringing in some of the bad guys from the original show. Let's take a look at five iconic villains that ought to make an appearance and terrorize the Vera sisters (but be defeated eventually, of course).

The Triad

The Triad was a group of three upper-level demons loyal to the Source of All Evil. They kept trying to convince Cole aka Belthazar to kill Phoebe and her sisters on the Original 'Charmed', only Cole ended up vanquishing The Triad themselves. While they were not the scariest villains on the original, the reboot could add a new dimension to these villains and make them formidable enough for the Vera sisters.

Barbas

Barbas was a demon the Halliwell sisters kept fighting time and time again; he showed up in seven out of the eight seasons of OG 'Charmed'. Barbas was a demon of fear and would try to unearth old and new fears of the sisters to weaken them. He would also help anyone who was later trying to steal Wyatt (Piper's and Leo's baby). Barbas in the new 'Charmed' could return to be scarier and prove to be a challenge for the sisters.

Zankou

Zankou was a really powerful, ancient demon who was feared even by other demons. On the original show, it was said that he was responsible for the Crusades and the Black Plague. Zankou was really good at understanding human emotions and this helped him manipulate his prey. Zankou was powerful enough to try and take control of the Underworld from the Source of All Evil but was only defeated when the latter managed to somehow imprison him. Zankou has the caliber to be a season-long villain on the reboot and maybe for even longer.

Abraxas

Abraxas was a demon that resided in the Astral Plane with the ability to strip witches of their power by demonizing their source. But the most interesting thing Abraxas did was steal the Book of Shadows and read the spells backward, causing all the spells the Charmed Ones had cast to be undone and bring back old enemies. If Abraxas is brought to the reboot, it gives the potential for some of the villains from season 1 to come back as well.

Source of All Evil

Yes, we know, the Source of All Evil was there in Season 1. But, the reboot version of the Source never showed this powerful being as their own entity - only through association. The worse extent of their powers we got to understand was when Macy took on the Source and started to go out of control. If the Source gets powerful enough to become their own entity, the Vera sisters would need plenty of help to defeat them.

Honorable mentions

Over eight seasons of the OG 'Charmed', viewers got to see plenty of villains. There are more that would provide for good stories on the reboot. There's the Shax demon, whose worst crime was killing Shannen Doherty's Prue. Then there is Tempus, a demonic sorcerer with the ability to manipulate time - we saw Macy doing something like this in the season 1 finale, but perhaps Tempus could prove more dastardly. Christy Jenkins was a villain in the final season of the original show. Christy tried to turn her sister, Billie (played by 'The Big Bang Theory's' Kaley Cuoco), who was the Halliwell sisters apprentice witch, against them under the manipulation of The Triad. Billie eventually figures out the manipulation and helps the Charmed Ones, but Christy, refusing to accept this, is killed.
